Ill start from the best part which was the location of the hotel - lovely, 15-20 minutes to the centre of Ubud, quiet (when I dont count the broken rooster that craws 24/7). The exterior of the hotel (garden, pool, restaurant and bar) are well taken care of.
Regarding the staff, especially the male receptionist were very kind, funny and helpful, the room service as well. The Gem bar was basically empty all the time and we learned why after the first and only visit - we basically felt like we should go home already, had to ask for every drink because the lady was unattentive, and she was all the time “hidden” under the bar and got up only when we were leaving to remind us to pay.
What I found VERY UNPROFESSIONAL regarding the staff was that they just didnt inform you about price of the services that were provided - do you provide laundry service? Yes we do just give us the laundry. Do you rent bikes? Yes we do, heres the key. Can you do the breakfast floating? Yes, we can, here it is. Then you learn that the laundry is done by the outsource for 50k per kilo (twice as any laundry service we have encountered in Ubud)even tho I supposed its included in a room service (as thats a practice in plenty of hotels) and that above 300 IDR per breakfast they also charge you 200 IDR for the board? Like.. thats quite lots of money, maybe you should at least mention the price (but i understand that in such case nobody sane would buy it, probably). After this we were also afraid of what will appear on our final bill - charge for each helmet rental? Charge for a room service? For the water supplies? You just are not sure.
Breakfast itself was a whole another story - you pay 150 IDR per person for small amiunt of scrumbled eggs, small amount of veggies, one tiny sausage, coffee (obviously powdered one), few slices of watermelon and oversweetened juice. The most funny part was the room service taking our complimentary sugars and tea bags and coffes from inside the room and putting it on the tray like “serve yourself” 😂 that really made me laugh tbh. You basically pay ridiculous price for ridiculous portion of food and they dont even bring you a sugar.
The the core of my review - the rooms smell was HIDEOUS. Firstly we just smelled the mold, then we even found it at many places. On the toilet are many spots of growing mold, same on the tereace. We are lucky we dont suffer any fungi allergy and even then we were not able to sleep properly because of the smell. The easiest thing is to wipe the mold and use some air spray / diffuser / fragrance sticks, basically whatever! Instead we were provided one candle with essential oil which didnt help at all and the mold stayed there the whole time of our stay. This is not something you can do in a 4* hotel for such price! Basically we paid huge amount of money for a room we avoided to stay in because we couldnt stand the smell and just to inform you its even a health hazard. Mold is just not something you expect to smell every time after you wake up and every time you open the door from outside. The fact that its a tropical destination doesnt change anything (and we stayed at four other places in Indonesia an non of them was moldy!).
I am extremely disappointed as this hotel was the most expensive one from out trip and was supposed to be a real gem, as it was advertised. Instead we got mold, hideous smell and overpriced food.
Its a pity, the place has a...
Read moreReview ||||Unfortunately this is my first bad review for a hotel l have ever had to write in 30 yrs of travelling around the world. I stayed here a couple of years ago in a room under the pool and enjoyed my stay despite the room smelling damp and mouldy and the odd water stains here and there on the ceiling. I over looked this as l didn’t think at the time it was worth saying to much, this was most likely due to the pool being directly above. This year l thought l would try out the more expensive newer rooms with the beautiful infinity pool out the front of them. I had booked 5 nights in this room but unfortunately l had to check out after only one night. The rooms have absolutely no sound proofing between them as l had to endure the word for word conventions of the people in the adjoining rooms, not to mention the sex sessions with all the sounds to go along with it pretty much all night. Despite me banging on the adjoining room door which is paper thin and asking them to keep the noise down it continued till 4 am. This finally stopped at 4 am and then at 5 am the angle grinders and power tools started at the construction site right next door. I went to reception at 7 am and they told me they were fully booked out and unable to change rooms and couldn’t do anything about the noise from the neighbours. Other hotels on booking.com do put on there page chance of construction noise due to new construction or renovations but clearly they don’t care about this and are just chasing money instead of people wanting to relax on holidays. I booked other accommodation by 7:30 am after my sleepless night and relocated to another hotel. They did offer me a credit for the remaining 4 nights when l was leaving which l thought was good on their behalf and l was willing to stay in one of the damp smelling rooms again to use my credit. When l arrived home l contacted the hotel so it was all in writing but they replied weeks later saying that the credit had to be used within 12 months with no exceptions. Anyway l am unable to return next year and won’t be using my credit and happy to loose the money but just letting others know if you want a good night sleep without hearing clear conversations from the next room and sexual noises stay...

The name truly speaks for itself – Hidden Paradise is exactly that. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by a magical view of the surrounding forest and lush greenery 🌴
We stayed in a room with direct access to an infinity pool, which was simply unforgettable. The room was spacious, comfortable, and fully equipped with amenities such as a king bed, a TV and air conditioning. The bathroom was large, but what we loved most was being able to step straight from our balcony into the pool while enjoying breathtaking forest views. The balcony itself had a big sofa, table, and chairs — perfect for relaxing, sipping coffee or tea, and soaking in the scenery all day long.
Breakfast came next as another highlight. Served à la carte with a wide selection of international dishes, everything we tried was fresh and delicious. Enjoying breakfast surrounded by greenery and birdsong while overlooking the forest made it extra special.
Beyond the room and breakfast, the hotel also offers another beautiful swimming pool, a forest-view restaurant, and a cozy bar where you can enjoy drinks with a view.
For relaxation and wellness, the spa was incredible. We experienced a Balinese massage followed by time in the large tub overlooking the forest. The hotel also provides yoga facilities, where you can either practice on your own or with a private instructor, surrounded by nature 🧘♀️
What we loved most overall was how immersed the hotel is in nature — waking up and relaxing with stunning forest views made our stay magical.
We wish a wonderful holiday in advance to anyone planning to...
