The Laviana Hotel — Hotel in Pulau Bali

There are no good things to say - be wary of all the other positive reviews you see as they are not the reality of the hotel. It is a two star hotel, expect nothing more than that.

When we arrived it started well, reception was friendly and welcoming. We saw there spa packages, and decided to book one and then headed to the room. When we got to the room things took a turn, immediately when entering there were feet stains on the walls about shoulder height, clearly visible to anyone. The bed wasn’t made too well, with the duvet skew I the sheet. The bedside tables were falling off of the wall, so slanted that anything would fall off or pull the entire unit out of the wall. The balcony is not private and separated from the other units, you could easily walk between each of them. The shower points out horizontally, not down on top of you, making showering an interesting experience. When we went to the front desk later, they explained the spa treatment was actually in the room, not in a prepared spa. They were extremely pushy when we tried to cancel this, as we didn’t want to be held liable for any mess in the room. We didn’t end up sleeping either of our two nights there due to feeling unclean and uncomfortable with our treatment. When we went to return the key and show the staff the problems, they changed their story from saying they were ‘fully booked’ to saying they had better rooms available. Clearly an attempt to get you to upgrade. They were combative and full of excuses and made checking out even more taxing. Again, be wary of other positive or fake reviews, not everyone online is...

I found this place by default, after my previous accommodation, Shri Ganesh, cancelling my room to resell at a higher price, because of high demand over the Christmas break.||It's about 500 metres from the beach, not a bad location, but no warungs close by.||The rate I received was lower than the agencies by about 10%, good business at 3.30 pm, when they were unlikely to get another booking.||The room was comfortable, aircon efficient, but wifi was very unreliable. Initially, it may have been because of a thunderstorm, but even after that passed, it didn't get any better, and reception's advice was to sit in reception, or the breakfast room, because it would be better there!! ||I had need to look under the bed for a battery I dropped, and my guess is that it has NEVER been cleaned. Dust, fluff, used drinking straws, and food wrappers were plentiful.||There was no kettle or coffee/tea making facilities. I take my own coffee, but a kettle would have been good to have.||Breakfast was basic, self serve juice and coffee/tea, and two eggs, any style, on toast, or...

Very mixed feelings. Pool water is contaminated, has a shiny oily film on surface, and when stirred, the bubbles stay on surface for next 10 minutes. I swam once and left with scratchy body. Slowest wifi ever. Loud china group was let to be partying loudly till late hours by staff, should be opposite, after 23:00 the staff should take care of common sleep comfort.

On other hand: Room was on high standard, with this price its a bargain. Bathroom is perfect. Breakfast is quite good, bigger than usually in Bali.

My first impression was a 5/5 hotel, but mainly the pool water left me dissapointed. Otherwise, if you have your own simcard and dont care about pool its a good high...
