MG Setos Hotel — Hotel in Semarang

we stayed for three nights wanting to rest on our way back to Jakarta after driving from Yogyakarta. We love the room and the bathroom , it is fairly big. My toddler loves to run around everywhere around the room. The view from the room is also quite impressive. What we don't like about the room is the towel. The towel is thin compared to other hotels that we stayed. Also , the safety deposit box in our room is barely functioning. The hotel is centrally located , near to many iconic Semarang places like Lawang Sewu and Simpang Lima. Don't expect anything else other than the location. The hotel is situated in a defunct mall. The main lobby is on the 8th floor which has a great view. There is also a ground lobby. The hotel needs better signage , it can get confusing entering the hotel. There is no lift going to the underground parking lot. The stairs are not children / disabled friendly. We have to lift a stroller everytime we wish to enter the hotel The mall is non existent. There is a 'food court' on the fifth floor with limited tenant. Other than a foodcourt , there is a huge play area ( play play ) with a 5 D cinema. But when we we went there, we were the only one ( me and my toddler ) & it was on a Sunday ?!? . The pool is on another building , you have to go through the parking lot to go to the pool ( not convinient ) . I try to stay at this hotel from Friday to Monday. Some positive things related to this hotel include: The hotel rooms are quite spacious The location of the hotel is quite strategic

However, several things need to be improved, such as: If there is an event and several events coincide then the lift access will be quite congested and full of queues Apart from that, impact number 1, parking will be quite difficult even though some security is quite good and helpful in organizing but maybe because there are too many and it's crowded it looks a little chaotic Hairdryer is available but is paid, cutlery is also paid Breakfast served cold There are several floors below that are dark at night, especially when you take the elevator and it opens on those floors Under the bed is very dirty and probably rarely cleaned The 9th floor is a non-smoking floor, but in my room (916) there was a smell of cigarettes, even though it had been treated (fragrance spray) the smell still remained

note: it's better to ask for a room other than on the 9th floor The last one I was given was on the 9th floor (located 1 floor towards the lobby and dining room) which was quite noisy Apart from that, there is stair access from the 8th to the 9th floor so that the sound can reach the room, especially if there is an event at the restaurant Also avoid rooms with views facing the restaurant

Arrived at night The hotel was hidden from the main road You should take the alley to go here At The first glance the hotel looks grand and tall

First here you park the car And then went into the building You should take the elevator first to went to lobby Theres no staff here usually So i went to elevators and to lobby hotel at floor 8th The hotel staff just met here You went there and ask for the room And then i got my room And went back into ground floor And bring my car into basement park The parking lot here narrow With absurdity place to park (as expected with unsupervised parking lot) some car went into front of you some in back of you You just cant read the white line After park here i bring my luggage by myself and went to my room by myself too

The one i surprised was the room really huge the biggest room i stayed in semarang for that price Unluckily theres some absurdity pillars again in the middle of the room Didnt know what this architecture do

The itinerary just okay Hot water works But the AC take some time and helped with the semarang climate that about 38°C It will take half hour to make your room neat

The breakfast not really vary in here
