We were put up at Eriono because we made a mistake with our booking at another place and the owners know each other. That was a lucky coincidence!|We loved staying in the upstairs room at Eriono (they only have two in a little house separate from the family one) which is in a really good spot in Bukit Lawang: at the quiet end of town but still so close to the centre that you can easily reach plenty of other restaurants and explore the village itself. That said, we kept coming back to eat at Eriono because the food is some of the best in the village!|The room is spacious with a wash basin and a separate shower (cold like almost everywhere in the village) and the bed is also very large and comfortable. There’s some shelves and a hanger for your clothes as well. The best is the private terrace you have with two comfortable chairs and a hammock. Downstairs has a deck which is a little less private. |Also note that they don’t make up your room during your stay but it really isn’t necessary either as the sheet is fabulously fitted. |The macaque monkeys often come by mornings and evenings but they are not aggressive. You can hear them bounding on the roof and walk along the power lines from and to your deck. ||Special mention: they use environmentally friendly metal straws in the restaurant instead of plastic!! They will also refill your water bottle for a small fee. ||I really enjoyed staying at Eriono and would recommend it to others. Only caveat: you have to be physically able to manoeuvre the winding stairs (steepish and high) up to the top level. But for anyone with average ability that shouldn’t...
Read moreAs part of our #windy500 mystery trip, this was our second stop. |Bukit Lawang! There was a total of 25 people in our group staying in various places in Bukit Lawang. The people here are just soo friendly and kind, nothing is too much trouble. |This little hotel is amazing, nice clean room, good shower, we were upstairs so the morning views were lovely, the breakfast was always fresh and beautiful. |And then there's the monkeys!! Those lovely monkeys, running around on the roof at sunrise and stealing any food you leave laying around!! So keep the doors and windows closed as they will try to enter the room! 😂|To be honest, with the service we got, the location and the people we met in Bukit Lawang I'd say that it's one of the best places I've...
Read moreThis Guesthouse is in a lovely location right on the river front away from the centre of the village so it is quiet with no traffic as cars cannot come to this part of the village. The owners were lovely and helped with all our questions. The room was really clean and very well decorated. The bed was very large and comfortable, there was no AC but the fan did a good job at keeping us cool at night! The bathroom was also clean with a western toilet, the slight downside was the loose Pebbles in the shower were very uncomfortable to stand on! The food from the restaurant was tasty with a selection to Indonesian and western foods. Very impressed with...
