During my month-long stay in Bukit Lawang, I had the pleasure of dining at the family-run Wild River Restaurant almost every day. From the very first visit, I was warmly welcomed by the incredible family who operates this hidden gem. Their kindness, hospitality, and genuine care for their guests made it feel like home.
The food was consistently delicious, with a great variety of flavors and freshly prepared dishes. A few of my personal favorites included the mi goreng, the egg semur, lemon and sugar pancake and the crispy vegetable fritters.

We‘ve been eating here several times during our stay and were always warmly welcomed by the lovely family, who runs the business. They even start making funny jokes with us, because we were coming so often.
Since we‘re vegetarian it was food heaven for us, they have so many vegetable, tofu and Tempe dishes (also vegan) next to the meat ones.
