I stayed at Lawlors Hotel on Bridge Street in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford, Ireland at end of September 2023. Location of hotel is lovely with view of Quay and Harbour, but the amenities in hotel were unsafe and outdated. My room was right across lift on third floor and I requested to be moved to a quieter room so I could rest at night on day I arrived. As a disabled person with cancer, I could not believe that my request for a room change was denied, although most of hotel was empty that Wednesday. Two days later on Friday, I asked again for room change and was then given a room card to move into another room away from elevator. Then when I was going to move to that room, Lawlors staff at reception said they had given away room. Imagine if I had gone into other room at night and there was a stranger lying in bed?! I had “Do not Disturb” sign on door of my room every morning when I went down to breakfast at 9 am and every day for 7 days when I returned to room, the tv was turned off and items were moved in my room. Water temperature in bathroom in shower and in sink was too hot and burned me when I took a shower and is a safety hazard. Noisy toilet running 24/7 in room 306. Loose sink and shower drains in bathroom. Only RTE 1, RTE 2, and TG4 for tv channels and a few music stations on tv. Back of hotel is open 24/7 next to a busy shopping center where parking lot of hotel is and allows strangers not staying at hotel to enter hotel, which is unsafe for people staying in hotel. Health hazard with mold and mildew smell off rug in ballroom where groups hold workshops. I emailed Lawlors Hotel on October 12, 2023 about my health and safety concerns and did not hear back from anyone till a week later on October 19, 2023. I would not recommend Lawlors Hotel to anyone, especially my relatives, friends, and family. The lack of concern for my health and safety among Lawlors Hotel staff was egregious. I would highly recommend that tourists visiting Dungarvan stay at the Park Hotel, which has equally lovely views of Quay and Harbour, along with modern and safe...
Read moreHad such a bad experience wit this hotel last weekend.. it was the October bank holiday so myself and my boyfriend decided to book a place in dungarvan.. location wise it’s very central and close to everything but the hotel itself was a complete shambles. We arrived and checked in. The lobby was comfortable and looked homely. We then went upstairs to our room in the worlds smallest elevater and were met wit an outdated closet. After paying 75 Euro we weren’t expecting the Carlton but the room was tiny, outdated and had a double bed shoved in between two walls. There was a huge dip in the floor and not room to swing a cat. The bathroom was gorgeous but the lack of hot water meant a cold shower was all that was in offer. Our bathroom light didn’t work upon arrival which i promptly let the staff know and they fixed straight away.. The wardrobe in our room was falling apart and we could hear everything through the paper thin walls meaning my boyfriend spent the entire next day nursing a headache. There was also a smell of smoke or burning throughout the hotel corridors. I could not fault the staff on the front desk as they were very nice and catered well for us. The breakfast left much to be desired though. After ordering our hot food it arrived warm and seeming like it had been cooked about a month ago. Needless to say we checked out and went in search of the nearest shop for a breakfast roll. All in all I don’t blame the staff for our less the average experience but I would definitely not be returning to this...
