We had reserved a table for four people a week in advance, but the table was not ready when we arrived. We had to wait because the staff were very confused. We were also told that we only had 90 minutes for our dinner. Not a good start! The menu offers a good selection of Japanese dishes, unfortunately there is no hot tea. We ordered Bento Box, Large Sushi and Ramen. We had to wait about half an hour for the drinks and the food came after about 45 minutes. Unfortunately, the waitress had forgotten a few important things and never asked if everything was OK or if we needed anything else, so we had to try to find a member of staff, but they weren't in the dining room, there were about six of them behind the counter talking and looking after takeaway orders. Unfortunately, it is once again clear that the young, untrained staff do not pay attention to the guests and obviously have little idea what constitutes a Japanese meal experience. When everything finally arrived, we had 30 minutes left and could start eating. The Bento boxes (sushi & chicken) were well filled and very tasty. The sushi presentation, quality, consistency and taste were rather average; more focus should be placed on details. The Ramen Bowl looked very good at first glance. However, the boiled egg was completely missing and the broth tasted more like something from a pre-packaged dish and was rather unpleasant to eat. Summary: The Tokyo with its selection of food is certainly an asset to the Town, however, the quality of the food needs to be improved, the staff should be better trained and should be more attentive. A manager should be present to oversee the process at all time. For now, we will continue to go to Cork to eat Sushi and Ramen.

Always excited to find a new Indian restaurant as it is one of my favourite foods. When you walk in it looks great. Lovely decor, beautiful chairs, it's quite welcoming of something good about to happen. But..... I'm afraid that's where it ends. The food was bad, the service not great, background music not suitable, they had no coffee and it's not cheap! My starter was surrounded by colourful sauces (see picture) which was interesting until I realised it was mostly ketchup and English mustard? The white stuff I think was yogurt and I have no idea what the brown lump of sauce was. Yogurt I can understand, ketchup and mustard??? The mind baffles. The starter itself (Pakora) was too spicy and not very nice and I can only assume the colourful sauces were to try and fool you into thinking you were getting something fancy or arty. My main course was again too hot for what I ordered (Biryiany) and seemed completely lacking in seasoning, or vegetables which is common for this dish. My wife had a Lamb Sagg. The lamb was tender and nice but the dish itself, presentation wise looked like something the dog coughed up. Our guests said they would never come back, staff didn't seem to know what a stand was for the ice bucket and I couldn't get a coffee because the "machine was broken". It was a disaster and €150 + tip type of disaster. How other reviews call this good food is beyond me. The oly thing edible that was nice was the ice cream and that was the only thing not Indian food. Never again!

Mixed reviews for me and my husband, but overall good. It depends what you get, I think. The teppan tofu teriyaki was really good. Nice crispy tofu and vegetables in a really tasty sauce. I got two different kinds of sushi. I got 2 pieces with inari, and I got avocado norimaki that came with 8 pieces. The inari was good. Though it was €4 something for two small pieces. The avocado hosomaki I had to order a roll that actually had other things in it but I only wanted the avocado. Any Japanese restaurant I've been to has had hosomaki or norimaki or something with only avocado in it. This place didn't, but they gave it to me anyway. I had two issues with this roll. They didn't replace whatever else with avocado, they just put the normal amount instead of putting more to make up for the lack of other ingredients, so there was a ton of rice and barely any avocado. My second issue is that there was mayo on it and I don't think it was included in the description. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the place is clean and nice. Overall it was pretty good. Worth a try. Maybe a tiny bit expensive for what you get. I'd love to have them stick around so we have more options in Dungarvan and I wish them the best of luck. May try again in the future.
