before I start, I must specify that we never got afforded the oppertunity to stay here. We travelled to Midleton for a wedding in a local hotel. The b&b was bokked two weeks in advance. Alarm bells rang loudly when i phoned the day before arrival to confirm our arrival and seek advice on the easiest way to finf the accommodation. I was delighted to learn it was actually right beside the hotel. Alarm bells began to sound when the man on the phone started interrogating me in a strange conversation about nothing in general. He then informed me there was a problem re breackfast the following morning as he and his wife were going to dublin early to watch a game. Strange but it wasnt an issue. We could have had breakfast anywhere. i gave him our ETA following the church service and again this was a problem, so i offered to check in before the service which meant leaving earlier to make the stop before proceeding on. there endeth the conversation. I relayed it to my wife that night but she assured me my antennae was probaly over reacting.||The arrival at the location confirmed my suspicions. As we arrived the owner was actually outside waiting for us. In the car were myself, my wife and children and my mum. I told everyone to stay in the car and i met the owner. He asked about the people in the car. I explained it was my gang, mum 3 children. I explained my mum was booked into the hotel and my children were staying overnight in a village 20 mins away as she lived locally. he did quite a deal of looking and the alarm bells were going off big time. He told me his wife was in town and he didnt know what room we were booked into. I humored him and offered to go have a bite to eat whilst he awaited her return. I dont know if he actually thought i believed him regarding this but i pretended to.. i informed my wife that we could be in trouble but she dismissed my concerns.20 minutes later he rang me from his mobile phone (strange) and told me there was terrible news. The man they were going to visit (what man?) had died and he had to arrange the funeral!! As a result he would be taking no guests that night!! I would love to say i was shocked but i wasnt. I asked where that left us at 1230 i the day in a full town..He suggested ringing another B&B. Genius, why didnt i think of that? The only reason i didnt tell him what i thought of him down the phone was the fact i was in a que at a supermarket. I was disgusted. I hung up in shock and horror. I spent the next two hrs looking everywhere when we came across Amanda B&B who had a vacancy (see review)||This was the only reason i didnt go around to this individual personally to discuss my concerns.. ||Imagine my suprise when i took a night time stroll after the wedding meal to see guests lodged safely and securely within the lodgings.||I manage to hold down a decent government job and in all of my travells around the globe this is the first time i have been viewed as undesirable at any lodging house. Perhaps he believed we were all going to cram into the room, or perhaps we were members of a travelling minority but it was clear we didnt fit his criteria.||Upon relaying our tale to several locals who would know the individual it came as no suprise and was the subject of much humor!!||The good side of the whole experience was finding Amanda B&B a short distance away and we will return. Be carefull when...

My wife and I stayed at this B&B very recently for 2 nights. We wish to express our experience was less than satisfactory. The mattress in the bed was very uncomfortable and it appeared to have caved in and the springs were coming up through it. My wife was unable to get any sleep on both nights during our stay. Her back was aching as she laid on the bed and when she got up the following mornings, she was in pain all day long as a result. The en suite/bathroom was in bad condition. The shower door was in poor repair and the shower itself was very noisy when it was being used and the only way to describe the noise was something similar to the sound of a jet engine revving up. The water pressures in the hand basin and shower were extremely low. The bedroom was very average and could only be rated as barely acceptable. In the morning when we went downstairs for breakfast we found the tables to be very well set up but the layout of the room was not very good. The breakfast cereals were displayed on one side of the room in a reasonable manner, while on the other side of the room, a kettle, toaster, bread and teabags were all clustered together on top of a fridge. If these items were laid out on a separate table, they would have looked better and more presentable for the guests having breakfast. Suffice it to say our star rating is reflected accordingly and our overall experience is less than what we had anticipated. To conclude we would like to add that the owner Noreen was very courteous and polite to us during our stay. We were very grateful for that. However, we both feel that we did not get value for the money we paid and we are disappointed with the lack of service that we were expecting. Regards, Maurice & Stella.

*P/S: An email was sent to the owner replying to his response to my review. A few facts had to be corrected and his attitude leaves a lot to be desired. However, I am not surprised by the tone of his response after reading some of his previous responses to other reviews from other patrons who have stayed at this B&B. Constructive criticism is a good thing and accepting the facts when they are presented in a reasonable diplomatic manner. Being in denial doesn't change the truth of the matter. His arrogance in the way he speaks, reflects his attitude towards free speech and does not show any respect for anybody else's feelings. I hope he appreciates the content of my email that I sent to Noreen and perhaps learn a thing or two about knowing that other people have opinions too, which don't always coincide with his point of view. There's a lesson in there that his side of the argument is not always right. He says that the management appreciate Feedback from the guests who have stayed with them down through the years, well maybe it's time to listen to what people are saying, be it good or bad reviews because at the end of the day, it's the paying guests who are keeping the business afloat. Therefore it's important to listen to what's being said even if it's not always what you would like to hear. My review was written by me to point out what I and my wife saw and experienced when we stayed at your B&B. Nothing more, nothing less. Denying the truth doesn't change the reality of the...

Stayed down there for 4 weeks and was truly amazed at how welcoming and hospitable Noreen and Phil were. Located in a very convenient area, very close to shops and the town. Stayed in two different rooms and both were excellent.||||The rooms were lovely and warm, with brilliant showers. Breakfast was always delicious and I received a very generous portion. No request was too demanding for Noreen, she was so helpful and obliging. She even dropped me to the train station during the snow!||||Would like to thank Noreen for how welcoming and comfortable she made me feel while I was down in Midleton. Will...
