Midleton Oriental — Restaurant in The Municipal District of East Cork

Paid €31 for take away this evening, paid by card even though they nearly DEMAND cash even when ringing the order in! Got home to discover they had left my order short prawn crackers, which i paid for. Rung them up to make light of this, and told them to simply refund me by card (same way i paid) as i was not driving all the way back down. I was swiftly told ‘no, we wont be refunding you by card as we are too busy, u can either come back down for prawn crackers, or we will give u free prawn crackers next time, or if u want refund come back down and we will refund in cash’ and that was it.

Absolutely wont be going back for food as the chips were cremated. I will return for my refund of prawn crackers however, as the manner in which they conduct their business is actually illegal.

They would swiftly want to change their business practices because the amount of money they charge for sub-standard food along with their demeanour towards customers, its no surprise they can only offer take out now and their dine-in has stayed closed since covid.

I ordered takeout online and went into collect. Owner was there and I told him my name and was there to collect my order. He looked confused and asked if it was online. I told him yes and a member of staff showed me a docket with a phone number on it and asked if it was mine.

Luckily it was as they shouldn't have shown it incase it was someone else's personal details.

Owner told me next time I came to collect to give my phone number when I arrive instead.

They went and got my order from the kitchen and handed it out. The name I gave when I arrived was printed on the docket attached to my order.

Food was actually really good. Crispy wonton were fantastic and beef and blackpepper sauce had plenty of veg.

It's a shame the owner is rude and abrupt. I might go back to driving out to carrigtwohill chinese again; much better...

Despite our longstanding support for Midleton Oriental, our recent experience has been disappointing. Opting to use their website for the first time, we selected our items but explored other options before completing the order. To our surprise, 10 euros were deducted from our account without finalizing the purchase. When we contacted the restaurant, the staff displayed a poor attitude, blaming the website server and abruptly advising us to contact the server provider. While 10 euros may seem insignificant, it can make a substantial difference for a hardworking student managing college, rent, and car insurance expenses. This was meant to be a special treat, and we feel let down after years of...
