Motel Jaffa Haifa — Hotel in Haifa

Our group of 17 pax arrived around 10 pm in Haifa from a very long journey of 14 hours. We were extremely tired and expecting to have a good night's rest to be ready for our big day the next day. We weren't checked in until 11:45 pm. We waited for the owner to finalize the amount that each person should pay and was shocked to be informed that the 25 usd/per person/per night is increased to 40 usd/night. According to him, the booking with booking.com has to be cancelled and 40 USD is cheap enough given that he is letting us use the kitchen. We could go to a better and clean hotel for 40 USD per person per night. But exhaustion, time constraint to find another hotel that can accommodate a big group and being new comers in Haifa made us give in to accept the 40USD/night/person .We collected enough money to cover for those who have less budget for hotel and handed the owner the total amount of 6,400 USD for the whole 10 days. The next morning, we waited for the kitchen to be opened but no one did. According to him he did not say anything about the use of the kitchen for free.We asked some friends to negotiate the use of the kitchen which he agreed but with a charge of 80 shekels per use. Location is not particularly good (dark street). Inside, the common area is also not lit up enough so we were sitting in the dark. ||||Beyond that, it was quite an unfortunate and upsetting multiple encounters with the owner continuously being untrue to their word: ||||(1) the cost of online booking at $25/pax/night (and being asked to cancel from booking.com and rather go through the booking on offline), ||||(2) the surprisingly increased rate to $40/pax/night upon arrival and check in, ||||(3) the unexpected extra cost of using the kitchen, which (a) booking.com indicates is part of the booking and ||(b) was promised that $40 is a good rate especially with the availability of the kitchen ||(c) costs 200NIS per use (brought down to 80NIS per use after a lot of begging).||||I would not recommend this place at all. For someone to visit such a beautiful city and be welcomed by such kind of unwelcoming hosts who seem to take advantage of every possible situation that comes their way, is such a heartbreaker and such a disappointment the this city's otherwise generous culture.||||There are a lot of other places, for $25-$30/pax/night in better locations and closer to the places you'd want to visit that is well worth your money -- sometimes you'd even want to give more because of the kindness of...
