Roger's House Hostel Tel Aviv — Hotel in Tel-Aviv

Caution!!! Fraudsters !!|| My husband and I booked this hotel, it seemed clean and tidy. But only it seemed. Upon arrival, the dirt, dust and mold on the walls immediately caught my eye. Then they simply stole money from us, otherwise I can’t call it.|| When filling out the questionnaire, they told me that I have to pay 17% VAT as an Israeli citizen, although I have a student visa and are equal to tourists in all Israeli civil relations.|| This was followed by a long conviction that payment of our reservation at the booking was not transferred to the hotel, so they can not settle us. Although in my account on Booking all payment has passed and the number is reserved. We were offered a very (convincingly and carefully suggested, I ask you to pay attention to this, the employee’s game is an acting game that is not appreciated by Oscar) to pay them the same amount with VAT at the cash desk, after which the booking will return the money we paid earlier and we will settle right there to the promised number. And so it happened.|| Then we were taken to a room which DOES NOT APPLY TO ANYTHING WHICH WE RESERVED ON BOOKING: 7 beds, it’s cold, like in a freezer, falling off the floor and plaster from the walls. The following dialogue follows:|| “- for booking I booked another double room on the top floor with a double bed.|| - Not. booking can provide you with any photos, but not real photos of rooms. This is all booking. ”|| Please draw your own conclusions about the competence of such an employee and, in general, any possibility of such an individual having access to the service sector.|| We tried to get our money back, it was very difficult, because we did not speak English well and hardly knew Hebrew. We spent 4 hours in this eatery instead of enjoying Tel Aviv. We called our friends so that they could talk with the employee and convince him that he was wrong and we need to return the money, everything was in vain.|| In the end, he simply began to ignore us, not to answer questions. The last phrase, after which our patience burst, "we will not refund your money, you can leave."|| I repeat that these are scammers who planned this...

It’s dirty. The dirtiest of all places I’ve stayed out of many years, in over 40 countries. Lifting up my pillow to see some dead insect I can’t name, including its excrements. Hairs from intimate areas all over the mattress, collected from travelers from all over the world. Crumbs and excrements of insects on the bed frames. €5 deposit for sheets while you do them a favour staying in their dirt. A dead cockroach on the ground which I didn’t photograph but you get the picture. Thick layer of dust on the floor, so many long hairs it looks like a tile pattern. Dirty showers and toilets. Kitchen smells of mold. Couches dirty and full of dust and crumbs. Broken tiles all over the property. No water on one morning. Doves under the roof that keep you from your sleep. No fire safety as all upstairs windows are barred. The lockers need a lock to be bought from a vending machine, they ran out so I had to take my valuables everywhere. I asked to leave them at the reception but was not allowed to leave my whole (small hand luggage) backpack.

After waking up I had about 5 bites and red itchy patches all over the body. There were NO mosquitoes these were bed bugs.

There are notes all over the place with: “Roger says: do such and so. Clean up, don’t turn the air conditioning to low, and so forth.” If it would be “Leon (me) says: Roger, get your act together and don’t host travelers in insect excrements and filth. A disgrace and I recommend to spend more to stay in a clean place. A foot fungus infection costs money on the long run as well, although I’m still hoping I got lucky and didn’t catch anything. I was not comfortable sharing my feedback directly with the owner as he seemed unfriendly and a know-it-all, not even saying bye as I checked out. I know I should have reported it to him directly but choose to do it like this. Having people stay in a place bordering a health hazard says enough about the owners mentality. Too bad as all staff are otherwise...

It's a shame free beers don't make up for really awful staff. The first morning there was a water shortage (not their fault) and the girl at the reception was totally unwilling to try and find any solution (like go to the nearest gas station that's literally 30 seconds from the hostel and get a few bottles of water) for guests to be able to brush their teeth or have a glass of water in the morning. She kept saying to wait, for about 2 hours, and when I become a bit impatient she started talking about my attitude and tried to explain me that it was even more important for her to have the water back. ||Anyway, got a free beer from the manager later that day 'for the inconveniences' that turner our to be a very sad about 1/3 of a pint, but still, it was free :D||But the next day I had to realise that rude staff is the norm here, not just one girl's one bad day.||Made a coffee before breakfast, drank it and sat down to eat when the guy who was on breakfast shift came to me and said 'you have to wash your dishes'. I was still sitting in the same kitchen, there was maybe 2 other people present, one dirty coffee cup didn't bother anyone, and I very clearly didn't leave, just dared to sit down to eat and planned to wash my cup along with my plate after breakfast. So thanks, dude.||BREAKFAST is a DISASTER: 2 or 3 different 99% sugar sweet spreads, the cheapest white toast bread and hard boiled eggs. That's it. Not even butter or hummus. No milk for coffee. No cereals. Anyway, had a toast with eggs (and my own butter), and while eating, same dude comes and says: 'only 2 eggs per person included'. I couldn't believe it, how can a place be so cheap to serve this as breakfast and even limit the amount of the only edible bit. ||Later that day the lovely receptionist from the previous day said, smiling, that they didn't have a hair dryer.||Very much not recommended, about 2 dl free beer does not make up for the behavior...
