Romantic Trulli B&B "Reception" — Hotel in Alberobello

WOW, what an experience! I had read all about Alberobello & the lovely trulli homes & many said "you must stay in one" & they were absolutely right. It was such a special & magical experience to stay in one of these unique structures & be able to wander the streets & explore in such a relaxed way. I loved that our trullo was just off the main road & yet still equally charming & gorgeous as the mainstream trulli that everyone hovered around & took photos of while touring (this would've driven me a little nuts). The inside was charming & fresh & up-to-date & even included a little kitchenette. We loved the little stone "niche" where the bed was tucked away & there was a second bed upstairs (in the tip of trullo) if you wanted to pay extra/had extra guests (would assume it could have slept 4). Breakfast was terrific & delivered to our room. We had brioche/croissants, cakes, fruit, meat & cheese. They made hot cocoa for my son & I had a delicious cappuccino (typically hotel cappuccinos, in my opinion, are inferior in quality, but this one was every bit as good as what I find in the cafes). They gave us a sweet parting gift of a trullo/Alberobello towel & they were EXTRA helpful when I had to return after check-out because we forgot our passports in the room. The only downfall, certainly not Romantic Trulli's fault, is that it's near impossible to find something to eat around 4 or 5 pm. We'd rush to get an early dinner as restaurants are required to close at 6 pm per the Covid/Italian decree & EVERY restaurant was closed. Such a shame as they could make some money if they adjusted their hours in light of the current situation. We really didn't want salami & cheese with bread, again, for dinner so beware that your best bet in these times is to have a big, late lunch (or use the kitchenette). We decided to come to this cone roof shaped town of Alberobello while in Abruzzo. I booked this hotel thinking it was a hotel in the traditional sense of the word - far from it! This particular trulli was on the most photographed street of the town! And now I know why! I would not have imagined it would be this spectacular! These structures have been around since the 1450s!! Well modernized of course! Once we spoke to the administrator, she informed us that cars are not allowed to drive down these streets. I thought oh no where do we go? the administrator, who has thought of everything, lives nearby and has her guests park in her gated backyard! We parked, grabbed our bags and walked down the street to meet this wonderful lady! She explained the area, checked us in and accompanied us to our trulli! What a wonderful 2 days! I have to note the breakfast (included) - they asked us what time we would like it - we said around 9am - she said 855..ok 855 is fine. When I tell you punctuality is key - it was 855! You see they don't really have a restaurant kitchen - they prepare it and bring it to their dining room - can sit inside our outside on the beautiful veranda! The breakfast was outstanding - cappuccinos - fresh fruit plate, Cornette (croissants) fresh baguettes, jams, Nutella of course, assortment of cheeses, salumi and more! The area has definitely defined itself as a must see town in Italy! Although mid-September, tour groups were here! It was better than we could have imagined. Down a small lane, through a gate decorated with flowers and into a private court yard next to a small field dotted with olive trees. Staying in the Trulli it self is a unique experience - a real box tick for us. Bonus, the bed and pillows were very comfortable and the shower was also good (which is a life saver after 40 hours of travel)!||||If we're honest, all we wanted was to stay in one of the traditional Trulli houses, and picked Romantic Trulli because the location looked convenient (easy to access when arriving in alberabello, and situated in the Trulli zone). So we feel very lucky to have made this choice (we stayed in number 3, I don't know how each Trulli differs)||||On arrival, hosts were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was huge, enough to sustain us until dinner time. We are definitely recommending this place to all our friends and family.||||As a side note, whilst you can just do a day trip to Alberabello (as I did many moons ago) - I highly recommend staying a night, the evening adds so much character that you would otherwise...
