The location of these trulli is in the middle of the south Trulli zone, of Alberobello. This is characterized by lots of trulli that have been converted to accommodation and shops. This is a pedestrian-only area, and all the shops and restaurants are within easy walking distance. Parking is fairly close, about a block or two away -- but this depends on when you arrive, as peak times will see most parking taken by daytrippers. When arriving, you check in at a central office, and are escorted to your trulli a few blocks away.||||The hosts are very friendly. They provide information and are helpful.||||Our group of 3 couples were accommodated in a trulli with 4 suites. Each were in individual trulli connected to a central kitchen and living room area. We shared a roof terrace, which had great views over the trulli rooftops. There were also a couple of garden areas, and a jacuzzi (which we couldn't figure out how to turn on, and was cold anyways). ||||Each suite had ensuite bathrooms. They were all very well decorated and comfortable. Check out the descriptions that are posted on their website, as not all suites are actually "trulli". Ours, for example, was in a 2-storey stone building, but without the traditional conical roof. The other suites in our party, were actually trulli. ||All suites had air con. And some had their own separate entrance to the street. ||Wifi was available throughout. Everything was very well maintained, and seemed like it was newly renovated.||||Breakfast was served in a trulli about a block away. Selection was good. ||||We loved our stay here, and would...
Read moreWe stayed for one night at one of the historic Trulli homes in Alberobello.||Let me begin by saying that there comments aren't necessarily meant as a criticism, just that it's almost impossible to know this stuff without going through the process.||First off, we received an email asking us what time we planned to arrive, as the check in, is as per usual, 3pm. However, the main office where you have to check in is closed between 1 & 3 pm daily so if you're at all early, you sit outside waiting in the sunshine.||We were told check out is 10:30 at the latest. It was made clear that even that was stretching things. When we got to our assigned place, some minor annoyances: no pillowcases on the spare pillows; no Kleenex tissues. And the wifi didn't work.||We had parked in a lot recommended by the hotel. The guy at the lot said the car had to be out by 9 am. The person at the resort office said 10:30 am. Given we were ready to leave by 9 we went to the lot only to find a chain and barrier across the entrance/exit. We called the office and they said if you look carefully you can unhook the chain yourself and remove the barrier, and oh yeah, please put them back once you have the car out. None of the above was a crisis just a series of annoyances so I would think carefully before...
Read moreFirst, the Trulli. In my opinion highly overrated experience. They look very nice from the outside, but nothing special inside. However, just as the tour books say, the town of Alberobello is filled with people...worse than Main Street Disney World, that if you want to see it better, it is a good idea to stay there as it is much more than the Trulli. But you can stay there at any other hotel, nicer hotel that pretend to be a Trullo.||Now, the Tipico. The staff is super friendly and very professional. We had an issue with the AC and it was fixed immediately (probably change of season). The amenities are ok, but you have a full kitchen and utensils. The only thing I would say is that the door in the bathroom has a frosted glass that does not cover much. And depending which Trullo you get, be prepared to walk uphill with your luggage. I guess you can drive and park closer and then move your car. But we arrive at a time that if we moved our car from the main parking lot to town (where we can pay online), we would lose the spot. By the way, they have breakast which is ok near by. Anyway, if you want to stay in a Trullo, this is a good value and I would...
