Villa Vista Lago di Como by villavistalago Bellano — Hotel in Bellano

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Villa Vista Lago di Como by VillaVistaLago Bellano was so frustrating that I feel obligated to warn others.

First and foremost, the owner was extremely unsupportive and disrespectful throughout our stay. Instead of offering help or resolving issues calmly, he behaved rudely toward guests and treated legitimate concerns with arrogance and hostility. Hospitality was clearly not a priority here.

Additionally, it’s important to note that this property was previously listed under a different name — Lago Dorato Luxury Apartments & Villa - Lake Como View. This sudden rebranding to Villa Vista Lago di Como by VillaVistaLago Bellano seems like an intentional move to escape poor reviews and negative feedback. It’s deceptive and should raise red flags for potential guests.

While the view of Lake Como is beautiful (as it is in most of the region), that alone is not enough to compensate for the lack of professionalism, poor customer service, and disrespectful treatment. What an absolute treat! If I could give our experience a higher rating I would. This is the home you always hope you will have when you are on vacation. It is spacious. It is sparkling clean. The kitchen is all you could wish for. Oh, and the view! As far as the eye can see. Beautiful Lake Como with surrounding towns and magnificent mountains. We have stayed at MANY vacation homes both in Europe and the USA. This tops all because it tops them all. Our hosts, Etorre and his dad, Ettore senior are kind and communicative. Senior was there to greet us and saw we were older and needed assistance getting our bags up the stairs. It turned out he out-aged all of us by a couple of years. It did not stop him from jumping in and hefting our bags. Both were there to help us out. We don't speak Italian. Senior doesn't speak English. It mattered not. I could go on. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. Happily, Etorre had advised us to get a car. Heed his suggestion. The drive from town to the home is steep and windy. Ettore's place was just as pictured, perhaps a bit bigger than I expected, and very modern. It has a huge terrace overlooking the lake, which is amazing. It's 3 bed and 3 bath, so perfect for our family of 6 people that were there. The location is great for quick access to Varenna, Bellagio, and Menaggio, with either a walk to Bellano, or drive to there or Varenna (and then the ferry). The walk to town is 10 mins, but kinda steep, and not easy to find. I asked a local for directions, and still had to search around a bit. One thing to note, as is common in Europe, there is no A/C. That was a bit tough when we were there, since there was a heat wave. There's only one fan in the place so we needed to bring more... sleeping would have been impossible without them.
