Pros:||||Good location, central but slightly off the beaten track, close to the airport bus stop. Very good aircon - has a quiet setting so you can leave it on at night. Not much noise from the street at night either. Very big room, with impressive decorations (ceiling!). Wifi OK. Quite a few sockets available (not always the case!) The lady in charge was very pleasant and helpful. Go to Via Musumeci or Via Giaconia for some great affordable food!||||Cons:||||Very small bathroom, especially strange given the room was giant. Bed really uncomfortable, even though hard mattresses are supposed to be healthy? Dubious cleaning efforts - the floor in the room was very dirty (hard to notice as floor was dark), one day when we left the towels on the floor to be exchanged - as per the instruction in the room! - we came back to find they've been taken away but not replaced. Had to call the lady in charge from my phone (roaming!) and she arrived promptly. We didn't dare leave the towels for cleaning again. Also the towels serving as a rug was never replaced so it was completely dirty by the end of our stay. Also, the wifi stopped working briefly - again same situation, had to call from my phone. My advice would be leave a landline phone at reception in a place visible to guests with the number printed on it as things can occur at any time of the day or night and I think you should do at least that, if you choose not to have a standing reception. ||Breakfast was not great to my mind but I suppose with a small B&B you have to choose what you're offering.||||Overall I feel that the B&B does not offer a great value for money in relation to other comparable places...
Read moreSadly, due to a lightning strike on Italian railways, we only had one night in this exquisite B&B. A shame as Catania looks as if it would reward a longer stay in its sophisticated surroundings. It's more civilised than Palermo in my view. Our room was gorgeous, with 19thC painted ceiling and lovely modern decor and bathroom. The jacuzzi bath was a dream after a long rail journey from Naples! The B&B is not far from the centre of Catania with its shops, bars and restaurants. One thing to remember is that, like many Italian B&Bs, there's nobody permanently on the premises after 11am. So check with them if you're going to arrive later on so that they can arrange to meet you. But they couldn't have been more accommodating and helpful so this really wasn't a problem. Breakfast was very tasty with lots of homemade cakes and things. ...
