We are tough and demanding travellers and far too often we come home from our vacations feeling let down—even when the place has superbe reviews on TripAdvisor.|But this time? We are more than delighted. We will definitely be back.||Where do I start? The place is stunning—no photo, not even the professional ones, is lying. Every little house has a gorgeous view. It is incredibly peaceful. Yes, there’s a railway line nearby, but even in the bungalows closest to it, you barely notice. The cottages are spaced out perfectly, so you get total privacy.|They are spacious, enough room for two adults and two teens. The bathroom is not huge but it’s more than adequate.|Cleanliness is a huge plus here. Everything is spotless, and housekeeping is done perfectly every single day.||Getting to the sea is easy, with a boardwalk over the pebbles, so you don’t have to walk on stones. The rest is sandy and the beach is tucked away in creek where the occasional yacht drops anchor. Most of the time, it is nearly empty. Perfect. No need to rush for a sunbed; there was always space and no one ever left their things to “reserve” a spot if they were gone for a while.||The real highlight? The staff. We have never had such a positive experience. We arrived without our luggage (it didn’t make our flight), but everyone went out of their way to help. They even arranged a doctor’s appointment quickly so we could get the medication we needed.|We arrived late in the evening, after the restaurant had closed, but they had prepared a cold plate and a bottle of wine for us. If you miss breakfast (which ends a bit early at 9:30), the staff is happy to whip up a plate of pastries or something similar.||In short: it was perfect, and we’ll be back.||There is also a pool (though no one used it during our stay) plus a mini football pitch and tennis court.|There are a few good restaurants nearby, and it is a 20-minute walk into town.||Any downsides? The safe is quite small (you can’t fit a laptop in it). No coffee machine in the room. We had half-board and while the restaurant food was good, it did not quite live up to the rest of the experience. You choose from four starters and mains each morning and decide whether you want lunch or dinner. That said, they are happy to adjust the menu if there is nothing you like or for the kids.|All in all, a fantastic stay. We cannot wait to return!||Thank you everybody...
Read moreWe spend the whole holiday in one hotel, the Hotel Calanica Resort in Cefalù. The resort has 26 bungalows, inspired by the Polynesian huts, but comfortable and furnished like a modern hotel room overlooking the sea. The bungalows were cute and very clean. They offer enough space, and the view of the sea was fantastic. There is a small table with two chairs in front of the entrance. I could just sit there for hours and watch the sea. The only small drawback was the shower. It could have worked a little better.||The restaurant and bar were great. The food was very tasty and the service was very friendly. Although we were told before the holiday that Sicilians are not always so friendly, I can say the opposite from my own experience.||The beach doesn't get full marks for me. The view is great, the sun loungers and parasols were also very good, but the location was not quite ideal. There was no direct access to the sea. You had to keep going up the stairs and down the other side to get into the sea. It wasn't bad, but I think there is still room for...
