The beds, pillows, shower, and air conditioning were all bad. The first night in April I received about 10 mosquito bites because it was hot and we had to leave open the window.
We had to put towels onto the floor because the shower and shower door leaked a lot--It took 2 full towels to block the water and clean it up after each shower! The floor was constantly wet and the slippers they provide were very slick and dangerous on the wet bathroom floor.
In the evening you will be hearing conversations of people on the balconies and roof and hallway and other rooms because of acoustics.
In the afternoons/evenings in April, when it rained, there was no food in the vicinity--we had to walk up or down a huge hill every time you want anything.
Strangest and perhaps most inconvenient of all have to leave & retrieve a key every time you come and go from the hotel. They said this was to ensure housekeeping knew when to come--and when not to come, which I discovered is a total lie. Every time I got into the shower, without fail, my husband needed into the room so I either had to stop mid-shower, let him in, or he had to walk down the hall and 2 flights of stairs and wait in line while they got the spare. Every time we came or went we had to wait in line to get the key. This was very annoying. Despite this alleged purposeful system a maid walked in without knocking when I was totally naked! So apparently she wasn't aware of the system, or basic courtesy!
Most infuriating: My hair dryer shorted out during our stay. The older lady who owns the place was talking smack about me in Italian to the other girl, accusing me of smoking, giving me dirty looks and gesturing at me when I went to retrieve my key. They wouldn't give me my key, made me wait for 10 minutes while they served everyone else in the line, pulled me aside, and literally yelled at me in front of everyone in the lobby. I denied it (because I don't smoke!) and they called me a liar to my face! It was infuriating. I had to bring my hair dryer down to show them. Worst, most disrespectful service at a hotel, ever.
It is close to the train and the bar service were great. The breakfast was alright. Will obviously NEVER stay here again, definitely would not...
Read moreThe sleeping area was fine but our bathroom was very old, difficult to flush the toilet and the bath was very slippery (not ideal for seniors). On the first day, some came to make the bed for our son, but didn’t close the door properly. Luckily nobody stole anything as we were out for dinner and came back at 21:00 to see our door half open. Our view, wasn’t the best either, but that was just bad luck as the other side facing the pool was more pleasant.
The pool closes at 19:30, which is very early during the summer and when the heat was 40 degrees most days. I understand you don’t want to disturb guests all night, but 22:00 would be more reasonable, as cleaning only happens in the morning anyway.
There was a second level next to the pool that was closed to the public for some reason, nothing was ever explained, but it would have been nice as there are only 4 lounge chairs by the pool, the rest are chairs.
Breakfast was mediocre, but enough variety to find something to eat.
Upon leaving, we did see cockroaches in the garbage level, so that was concerning for what might be coming to higher floors soon.
The hotel is only about a 10 minute walk to the centre, which was just...
Read moreWe stayed here a number of days while exploring the delights of the Lake Garda area and wider norther Italy. The hotel is excellently located for the railway station where one can easily get to Milan, Verona or Venice. However it is a simple brisk walk from the lakeside and harbour area. Those who walk regularly would find no difficulty but others may use the bus or local taxi to reach the shore. From the harbour one can rent a boat or take a ferry further across the lake.||The pool is excellent on a warm day, and there is also the alternative of a sun deck on the roof with a Jacuzzi. There is a nice bar so one can relax with a spritz if desired.||The rooms were pleasant and airy with a balcony. The only minor gripe is there could be more power outlets for the modern traveller with phones and tablets to recharge. The bathroom was good with a bidet and shower. Again, a minor gripe that the shower door dripped outside the tray leaking water over the floor which required ample towels to mitigate.||On the catering side they were very very good with dietary requirements and provided menu alternates whenever required, and gluten free alternatives were made available at...
