Hotel Careni Villa Italia — Hotel in Finale Ligure

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in late August of 2018. ||When we arrived the temperature in our b room was 28 celcius. When we tried to lower it down the AC didn't seem to work so we told reception to which they replied we need to wait for 4 hours for the room to cool. Although being very tired after train journey we had to leave the room for a few hours because staying there was unbearable. When we came back after 8 hours, it was still as hot as when we arrived. We complained again to which reception again said we need to wait more. Not willing to waste any more time of our holiday on fighting with Aircon we said we won't wait and they moved us to another room with "working" Aircon. A/C was still a joke but at least we could breath in that room. However, fridge in new room wasn't working, water didn't go through in the shower and we lost the only nice thing in that hotel - balcony. To add to all of this, WiFi was working terrible. Also, for Italians to have a breakfast they had and instant coffee is disgrace to Italian culture and surprised me why Italians would ever eat there. Although we had "breakfast" included, we went to a cafe with nice espresso and proper breakfast almost every day. The hotel is run by pensioners who speak just a few words of English. I had to ask my Italian friend to call them and translate my complains in Italian to them because communicating with them was impossible otherwise. 90% of guests in this hotel are Italian pensioners or families with small children so I wouldn't recommend this to international tourists at all. Considering they charged 140€/night which is a price of 5 star hotel and everything we received from this place was roof above our heads this hotel is a total rip off which charges astronomical price just because if location which is in town centre, close to the main cathedral and beach (which is just a piece of land without sunbeds, for the one with sunbeds you have to pay a lot again). This is classic case when owners think they can charge whatever they want without maintaining their facilities just because you can see the sea from your window. It was unfortunate that our so far great trip to Italy (Milan, Mombello, Alba) was spoiled in the end by this terrible hotel. My recommendation is don't go to this hotel unless absolutely no choice and even then - better consider other location but with...

Buongiorno, ho avuto l occasione di soggiornare in questo albergo da domenica a martedì diciamo un week and lungo, premetto che ho prenotato nella settimana del soggiorno. Al telefono gentilissimi mi hanno trovato una stanza pur essendo completi, ho chiesto se avessero convenzioni con la spiaggia ma mi hanno risposto che quest anno nn le avevano e che avrei dovuto cercarla io, detto questo ho accettato cmq. All'arrivo chiedo anche alla receptionist se sapesse dove indirizzarmi e lei mi ha risposto che le spiaggie convenzionate erano piene che sarei dovuta andare in quelle libere attrezzate e che avrei dovuto prenotare la sera per la giornata seguente. E già qui mi sono sentita presa per i fondelli... Detto questo giro tutto il pomeriggio per le spiaggie ed erano tutte piene quindi arrivo alla spiaggia attrezzata dove mi viene detto che sarei dovuta andare l indomani dalle 6.30 del mattino a prendere il numerino per poi avere assegnato il posto alle 8.45. Detto questo mi organizzo e chiedo alla receptionist a che ora avrebbero servito la colazione l indomani mi viene risposto alle 7.30... Vengo a scoprire l indomani che invece veniva servita alle 8... Quindi dopo colazione chiedo alla cameriera (ho pensato lei è in sala saprà bene gli orari) a che ora viene servito il pranzo e lei mi dice alla mezza e le spiego anche il piccolo fraintendimento che ho avuto per la colazione lei scocciata mi risponde che nn possono mica fare 24 ore su 24 e che gli orari erano segnati in bacheca e rivolgendosi verso ad un altra cliente (penso abituale) dice che la gente nn sa cosa ci sia dietro a questo lavoro. A questo punto nn rispondo e vengo via ma la mia risposta sarebbe dovuta essere che io so bene cosa ci sia dietro visto che ho fatto qualche anno da stagionale anche io. Cmq arriviamo al mezzogiorno avevo chiesto la sera prima pasta al pomodoro per la mia bimba che nn ha ancora 2 anni e loro mi portano i tagliolini ho detto che era per la bambina e la signora mi ha risposto che avrei dovuto specificare la pasta... per noi invece la pasta era scotta e sembrava quasi riscaldata. Stamattina saldiamo, nel frattempo arrivano dei clienti abituali a cui danno la chiave della stanza dicendogli che già sapevano dove andare e uno di questi gli ha chiesto se per la spiaggia ci pensavano loro... La risposta è stata CERTO! (sicuramente avevano prenotato per tempo loro). L'albergo è un 3 stelle quindi nella norma... Pulizia buona... Consiglierei di cambiare i frigo bar della stanza perché surriscaldano e di mettere un calza scarpe(è una piccola attenzione che il cliente apprezza) Mi spiace ma questi signori nn mi vedranno più, nn ho intenzione di diventare una loro...

This 3 star hotel is located on the main coastal road, and a few meters from the center of Finale Liguria. Recently renovated the hotel provides parking under the hotel, a small but well equipped and very clean quiet room, a more than adequate breakfast (with a very active group of Italian families), and Italian television channels (but not CNN or BBC), all for 130 euros. Finale Liguria is a typical Italian beach town featuring a large church, fortress, sandy beaches, lots of restaurants,cafes and shops. We stopped for one night, on the way to Nice, and had dinner at La Lampara 50 meters from the hotel. The fresh fish, orata or dorade, was fabulous as was the pasta with pesto. The management of the hotel was very friendly...
