Golfo del Sole - Hotel & Holiday Resort — Hotel in Follonica

Great location. Very nice few days of relaxation in the middle of a tour around Italy. Beautiful beach that wasn’t crowded. Each room is assigned a pair of chairs and an umbrella on the beach, which was convenient. The pool was just enough with a small slide for the kids. The resort has a bunch of water sports at the beach (paddle boats, kayaks, SUPs) all readily available for 10 euro for 30 min or 15 euro for 1 hour, which I found reasonable. They also offer a free kids club and various kids activities, so the resort is a great option for families. The kids club instructors spoke English, which helped our kids feel comfortable. They run a kids dance party every night with songs in several languages (English, Italian, German), and our kids particularly enjoyed that. ||We stayed in the hotel, but there are also bungalows and apartments that looked nice. The bungalows overlooking the sea looked especially great, but unfortunately they were not available for our stay. Our room was clean, comfortable and updated. We booked a family room, which was basically a 2 bedroom hotel room (very comfortable for a family of 4). ||While food quality was just fine, we found the food options to be a bit lacking at times. Although there was always somewhere to eat, it was confusing as to where we could actually get food at any particular time of the day. There’s a pizza place next to the pool that doesn’t seem to open for lunch, which seemed odd to us given that the pool is most crowded in the middle of the day. The restaurant in the hotel is also closed for lunch most days. The beachside restaurant is nice but reservations are needed a day or two in advanced. ||We also found it a bit frustrating that the pool closes early in the evening, well before dusk. And on one of the days of our visit there was a short storm in the morning that led the resort to close the pool and beachside restaurant for the entire day (and evening) even after the day cleared up and turned into a beautiful afternoon. ||Overall, this resort is a great option for a nice family vacation. I come here with my family since 2014, and I would have never thought in 2014 that this Resort would have improved so much.||The focus of this resort is mostly on children, with several facilities for children and teenagers. Anyway it has an excellent beach (maybe the better I have ever seen considering the space available for each guest and the wonderful sea), it has a very good restaurant on the beach, and finally this year it has also a very good animation team with professional dancers that provides very nice shows.||By the way also the singer was good, and we have enjoyed some very nice show combining the singer and the dancers performances.||Of course a Miniclub is also available with a very good team as well.||All the kids go crazy everynight with the mini-disco and the quick show-up of the local mascot Rekalino, if you have kids they will probably make you adjust your agenda so to accomodate the Rekalino experience.||The Minigolf course is availalbe and kept in good condition.||The renewed apartments in the park are very nice with conditioning and mosquito nets (I think the nets are missing from the more expensive bungalow on the sea, and from the not-renewed apartments).||The apartment maintance team is very fast, everytime we reported something was broken or not working, it was fixed within half an hour.||The negative side are the mattresses, which are new but uncomfortable. I think the company made the error of buying those bad memory matresses which basically make you sleep in the shape of some...

The location is really on the beach which is really nice and well equipped.. Private's beach each is long, well maintained, clean water in the sea, not over crowded.||||Staff and services at the location are very good.||||We appreciated the service of all the staff, they do a perfect job everywhere.||||Nevertheless, there are several issues which are not mentioned by any travellers: ||||1.Railway road is very close to the facility (200mt or less) so you can hear the noise of a train every 30-40 minutes, even in the night. So it is really difficult to sleep in the night there. I see it as a big disadvantage of all Follonica area.||2. Rooms - they seem OK (we stayed in a hotel), but there is some alarm flashing light in a position that you see it all the night from your bed (impossible to switch off, the same in a different room when we asked for a change). Also the switches for the lights are a bit illuminated all the night, it is impossible to have a real darkness in the night, small details which disturb you all the night.||3. Air-condition - even when it was switched off manually from the reception, sometimes it somehow turned on for a while during the night.||||I wouldn't come back because of these issues. After 6 sleep less nights we have decided to depart despite the fact that we have prepaid one more night. The last night we stayed in a different location and we were finally able...
