Hotel La Ginestra — Hotel in Forio

We read the reviews that warned that the staff were rude and spoke little English, with some trepidation, but ALL our fears proved to be groundless.|The staff were delightful and although some spoke better English than others, there were no issues having conversations, especially as we'd taken to time to learn some basic phrases (a courtesy everyone should take when abroad imo)|It's a 3* hotel so don't complain when the facilities aren't 5*. Our room was comfortable and clean with A/C and a good maid service everyday. We also had a sea view and small balcony. Just €10pp per night to upgrade. Well worth it. The food was great. Fresh and tasty and believe it or not, no fish and chips or burgers in sight, just wholesome authentic Italian food. Vegetarians might struggle a little and I don't think they have ever heard of vegans, but maybe that's Italy generally? |Some reviews have complained that guests have to select their menu choices the day before. This isn't strictly true; you actually make your selection at breakfast. It's really not a bother to do so. The pool was bath temp, wow, but we had about 33c heat. There were always sunbeds and parasols available plus a large covered seating area and lots of traditional deck chairs. Swimming caps are mandatory for everyone. If you dont have one, they seem them for a couple of euros. |The hotel runs a regular shuttle bus to nearby Sant Angelo, but don't be late for your return to 'cos they don't wait. Be sure to try a freshly pressed orange and lemon drink topped up with lemon slush puppy, from the stand close to the bus stop. Just €3. It's amazing. especially after a long walk back up the hill in searing heat! Down in the village itself, it's mainly tourist shops, bars and cafes. Don't let them bring you "free" food such as bruchetta as some add it to the bill. The beaches there have lots of sunbeds and Parasols but they cost upwards of €20 each. There is a little public beach there so we purchased a parasol from a tourist shop for €15 and used our hotel beach towels to lie on.|Prices there are pretty good, water for one euro, fresh fruit and snacks in the mini marts are very reasonable. |Would we go...

Firstly what a great location. In easy reach of public transport right outside, but far enough away from the madding crowds of big towns.||My friend and I found the hotel exceptional for it's 3* rating. Super friendly and helpful staff. A hotel minibus available 3 times a day to drop and pick up from two locations; St Angelo and Sergato cove where the hot thermal springs eject into the sea.||Bedding changed almost every day , and a clean room to return to.||The restaurant served more than enough food. With a cold buffet entree, (help yourself), followed by a 3 course meal, served by super friendly and helpful staff. |Two choices of starters and mains. ||Personally, I would have liked more Italian food, and did think perhaps it was catering toward the German taste as at the time of our stay.||The Pool area with its thermal pool and hydromassage was fabulous. Plenty of sunbeds with robes and towels to hire if required. A fab' little pool bar serving all sorts, including the great lunch option of Brushetta and Vino for around £5.50.||Giant chess board on the terrace, and plenty of games and books to cover any bad weather issues.||We would return, not only to Ischia but to this sweet little hotel perched overlooking Saint Angelo.||Thank you all for making our stay so...

Ho appena trascorso un'indimenticabile vacanza in un luogo non molto distante dalla mia città di nascita. Ischia, molto più di Capri (meta adatta a chi vuole una vacanza modaiola e di 'apparenza') è un vero e proprio Paradiso...o meglio tesoro della regione Campania. Ho scoperto un vero e proprio mondo dove si può condividere, oltre al mare spettacolare e ad una cucina di alto livello e superlativa (merito del SuperChef dell'Hotel La Ginestra), cultura, storia, tranquillità, musica e divertimento, percorsi ed itinerari storici e folkloristici tipici proprio dell'isola e degli ischitani. Tutto nella perfetta scenografia di colori vivi e luminosi, odori e profumi della natura circostante, davvero appaganti per un turista in cerca di pace e, nello stesso tempo, curioso di vedere e conoscere luoghi e tradizioni differenti anche se a pochissimi km da casa! Ho scoperto un popolo industrioso, gentile, sorridente, sempre pronto ad aiutare, orientare e raccontare la propria terra. Confesso che tante sono le emozioni scrivendo questa recensione ripercorrendo lo stato d'animo sul molo del porto d'Ischia capoluogo in attesa della nave di ritorno: tutti volevamo restare ad Ischia e non tornare più! Ischia è un isola vulcanica e l'acqua del mare circostante risente di tale origine tanto da poterlo verificare sulla propria pelle! Ed infatti l'isola è ben famosa per le sue terme fin dagli antichi romani e, in particolare, per le cure termali di Federico II di Borbone. La spiaggia di Sorgeto rappresenta sicuramente una meta interessante da questo punto di vista. Eccellenti sono i tipici amari digestivi dell'isola assolutamente da provare ed acquistare per sé e per fare regali: il Rucolino (la rucola e, in genere tutti i prodotti della terra qui hanno un sapore assolutamente diverso dai nostri), il Piperna e la Pulchiacchella. Ma la mia indimenticabile permanenza sull'isola è stata opera soprattutto dell'incantevole struttura dell'Hotel La Ginestra: la camera perfetta e sempre pulita, dotata di tutti i comfort. Il personale tutto gentilissimo: dal Direttore alle signore che garantivano il massimo della pulizia quotidiana al personale di sala, sempre gentile ed attento ad ogni richiesta ed esigenza della clientela. In una parola siamo stati coccolati quotidianamente e in ogni minimo particolare. Ringrazio l'autista della navetta sempre pronto ad accompagnarci in spiaggia allietandoci con i suoi racconti storici e folkloristici dell'isola completando, di fatto, già quanto apprendevamo da Mimmo accompagnatore e guida turistica del nostro pacchetto all inclusive di AD EVENTI DI GRUPPO di Domenico Acanfora (su Facebook)! E difatti un GRAZIE DI CUORE all'organizzazione che ha permesso di trascorrere un'indimenticabile vacanza ad Ischia (assolutamente da ripetere!!) ed i complimenti alla professionalità, serietà e competenza del nostro accompagnatore/guida, nonché all'efficienza di tutti nel risolvere qualsiasi minima necessità o capriccio di tutti i partecipanti. Non dimenticherò mai questa breve ma intesa vacanza opportunamente fatta quest'anno, dove ho trovato tutto quello che cercavo: sole, mare, tranquillità, cultura e folklore, musica e divertimento, accoglienza e gentilezza!
