This may be a great place for backpackers passing through who just need a place to lay their head or for people who are used to staying in facilities akin to hostels and to whom food is just a form of nourishment. We mistakenly assumed it would be similar to the many agriturismos we stay at in Tuscany where the food is delicious and full of flavor and the accommodations are rustic but in the traditional sense with charming period furnishings. ||Where to begin....it is a bit remote, yes but usually we enjoy that. Next time (and there wont be a next time in amalfi because we simply prefer the north) I would splurge and stay directly on the water in one of the popular towns. Next, we were thrilled to have someone cook local food for us as we have only had great experiences in Italy and sadly cooking is just not the host's true calling. I am a chef in the United States and yes my standards are a bit higher perhaps but the food was simply bland (she warned us she cooks with little to no salt.......) and a disappointment all around. Not to mention what we were charged for the meals had us very upset considering we walked to several nice restaurants in the village that we paid less for and enjoyed immensely! ||The rooms were damp and I spent my time hyper sensitive to the damp sheets and sparse furnishings and less than adequate bathroom facilities. Wifi was non existent in our room which was directly above the main living area. ||I could go on but I don't wish to relive this experience. Also, I waited a year to leave this review so that it would not come from a place of anger or resentment but my family kept urging me to warn others and leave a review. So now I hope you will stay here at...
Read moreYour opinion will depend completely on your expectations. If you are expecting a modernized farmhouse with all the amenities (TV, AC, in-room WiFi, etc.), you’ll be disappointed; if you’re expecting a rustic, comfortable, quiet place far away from all of that, you’ll love it. If you’re expecting gourmet food and 5-star service, you’ll be disappointed; if you’re expecting tasty, simple recipes prepared from organic, fresh ingredients grown on site and served by friendly people who are passionate about what they do, you’ll love it. I was disappointed by the wine but absolutely loved the extra virgin olive oil and fresh fruit products. My girls loved the dogs and the cat, my wife didn’t like them around the dining area, especially with one dog repeatedly.....showing his dominance over the other (use your imagination). The kids complained endlessly about the lack of TV and internet, but the result was then spending a couple of hours each night talking and laughing with each other in the room, which made it a huge plus for me. The cows, roosters and weed whackers made the mornings a little noisy and made sleeping in difficult (it is a farm, after all), but the fresh air and peaceful starry skies made the evenings perfect. Vittoria and her staff were wonderful and welcoming, and provided helpful recommendations for the rest of our journey. I loved it, my family saw it as more of a mixed bag, but like I said at the beginning - it depends on what you are...
Read moreSimilar to other's experience, we were very underwhelmed. Rooms were damp and smelled of mold, and furnishings were sparse. (Very 1800's?) We were put in what appeared to be a family "suite" with 2 floors and 3 bedrooms. While showing us around our host suggested we not stay in one of the rooms. Afraid to ask why. There was a small, dark kitchen downstairs, but the refrigerator was pulled to the middle of the room. The freezer was stuffed with bags filled with something resembling brussel sprouts. Our friends found the same in theirs. Just odd. No services very near, but not so much as an offer of water or snack. We did decide to purchase a bottle of the farm's wine but found it to taste quite moldy and undrinkable. Ended up walking back to town :) meals were very bland and not what we were expecting from a working farm. Thankfully we were booked for just one night, but would have skipped any additional nights had we booked them. Disappointing because this is a wonderful setting and offers so much potential. ||I think we are generally pretty easy going, but sorry to say none of us would recommend this to others. ||And finally, just being realistic, I understand this is an 1800's farmhouse. This is a lot of work for the host who seems to be doing much of the day to day management on her own. Will help to keep all this in mind as you decide whether to...
