Our family stayed at Residenza Delle Città in Milan for a few days, and it turned out to be one of the best accommodation experiences we have had in the city. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how well the property balances comfort, convenience, and thoughtful service.
The hotel is located in a quiet residential area, about a 10 to 15-minute walk from Milano Centrale Station. This made it very convenient for us, especially when travelling with children and luggage. Despite being close to the main transport hub, the neighbourhood feels calm and safe, with supermarkets, cafés, and restaurants within easy reach. We often walked to the station for day trips and found the route easy and pleasant.
Check-in was smooth and efficient. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and professional. They gave us a quick tour of the facilities, explained how everything worked, and offered local tips on restaurants and nearby attractions. What stood out most was how genuinely helpful they were throughout our stay. Whether we needed directions, extra towels, or advice on getting around Milan, they always went out of their way to assist with a smile.
We stayed in a Family Room, which was spacious, spotless, and thoughtfully designed. It felt more like a serviced apartment than a hotel room. The kitchenette came with everything we needed, including a stove, fridge, and basic utensils. This was a big help, especially for quick breakfasts before heading out. The beds were comfortable, and there was plenty of space for our luggage without feeling cramped. The bathroom was modern and clean, with good water pressure and quality toiletries.
The room had large windows that brought in natural light, and it felt peaceful after a long day of exploring. Small touches like a welcome pack and neatly arranged amenities showed the hotel’s attention to detail. The air conditioning worked well, which was much appreciated during Milan’s warmer days.
One of our favourite features was the reception area, where guests can help themselves to complimentary water, tea, and coffee throughout the day. This small gesture made a big difference, especially when returning from a walk or before heading out. The lounge area itself is bright and inviting, ideal for relaxing or catching up on emails.
The property also offers a small fitness area and laundry facilities, which are practical for longer stays. We used the laundry room once, and it was clean and easy to operate. There is also secure access to the building and rooms, which gave us peace of mind during our family stay.
In terms of location, being just a short walk from Milano Centrale gave us excellent access to public transport, including metro lines, trams, and airport connections. From the hotel, it was easy to reach major attractions like the Duomo di Milano, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, and Brera District in under 15 minutes by metro.
What sets Residenza Delle Città apart is the combination of independence and hotel-level service. It offers the comfort of an apartment with the professionalism of a hotel team that genuinely cares. Everything was well-maintained and organised, and the entire property had a calm, homely atmosphere.
For families, the setup is ideal. There’s space to relax, prepare light meals, and enjoy privacy, all while being close to the heart of Milan. Our stay felt easy and stress-free, which is exactly what you want when travelling with children.
Overall, Residenza Delle Città is a fantastic choice for families, couples, or business travellers looking for quality accommodation near Milano Centrale. The combination of location, comfort, and exceptional service makes it stand out from many other properties in the area. We would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Milan and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, spacious, and welcoming...

Read moreWe stayed 3 nights at the hotel in a larger room (traveled with a kid and needed an extra bed). Rest assured, the recent reviews and pictures are true to what we found at the hotel. It's nicely decorated, older but renovated building.
In the lobby, you'll find a commercial Nespresso machine (a bit tricky to use even though I'm familiar with these), fresh pastries in the morning, and a fridge with canned mineral water (all free).
Our room was spacious, with a kitchenette (stovetop, fridge, microwave, electric tea kettle), table with 3 chairs, and nice bathroom. AC worked and the room was comfortably cool. The windows were all covered due to construction but we spent little time in the room. I'm a very light sleeper but slept well without ear plugs on all nights. One day, there was some light noise in the morning (possibly from construction) but nothing terrible and it was past 9 am. The only problem we encountered was the non-working elevator on our check-out day. It worked fine at all other times.
Wifi was OK. One corner of our room had bad reception for some reason but it wasn't a big problem. There were enough outlets to plug in all the devices.
If you plan to eat in the room, there are pots, pans, and utensils sufficient to make a light meal (BYO salt). For some reason there were only 2 tea cups and spoons but it was enough for us. I'm sure if we asked, we could get anything needed. Very good Esselunga grocery store 10-15 minute walk from the hotel. There is also Carefour Express store but it was tiny, do not recommend. As other reviews noted, there aren't any decent restaurants/bars nearby and the hotel isn't in close proximity to main attractions. If that's what you need, then this is not the right area to stay at.
The area nearby looks a bit sketchy at first but is actually quiet and reasonably safe. Metro station and Centrale train station are 10 minute walk from the hotel. (Surprisingly, there are pretty good places to eat or get a take-out at the train station. McDonalds menu there is mind-blowing coming from the US.)
As others noted, there isn't 24/7 staff and the hotel gets locked around 8 pm. We didn't have any problems with that and dropped off the key in the designated box when checking out at 5 am. But it's something to be aware of before booking. Every person we interacted with was pleasant and spoke good English.
There are many advantages in staying close to Milano Centrale: easy to get to from the airport and easy to take day trips. We went to Venice and then Lake Como for just one day by train. I'd definitely stay again at this hotel and can wholeheartedly recommend it to the...
