For a weekend(2 nights) in July we paid €680, and it's not worth it. It's not a 4-star hotel. Note that parking is a public parking for a beach. We had to wait for 20 minutes for someone to leave as there was no parking spot available. The staff barely speaks English, and they often don't even try to understand or help you. Receptionists never say hello or welcome. When I entered, they just looked at me. And instead of greeting, asked "The name?". On checkout the same - nothing like "Hello" or "how can I help you!", just "Checkout?". The rooms are very very small, and also have a weird smell. Breakfast is not a self - service buffet. You have to ask the staff to serve you, and they serve limited portion, and when I tried to ask in English, she just replied that she doesn't understand (thankfully my husband speaks a little bit of Italian, otherwise I don't know how would one order). The breakfast room gave me "soviet canteen" vibes - no music, just loud clanging of dishes being gathered and washed by staff, and unfriendly serving person that tells at you if you order it wrong. The minifridge only works with the room card in, so when we arrived the drinks in the minibar were room temperature, and when we asked to check if minifridge was working, they just promiced to look at it and never did, and then told us that the fridge is not for food so it's our fault. We had some milk and dog food with us that unfortunately we had to throw. We asked about renting a boat, and the receptionist just said: we don't have any. There was no interest at all to assist us with any information. We initially were given only one card for the room, and had to ask for a second (which, to be fair, they gave right away). The beach was great (the bar is very basic, also very little English spoken there), but no beach towels. Great location close to the town, and the dinner at the restaurant was really good (with great live music, which is...
Read moreDon´t be fooled! The "free parking" they advertise, is just a public parking lot of 4 hours parking, for which they give some certificate for a longer stay, to be placed in the car window. However, the Police might still give you a ticket from parking there, and it is under your own responsibility, as the hotel staff told us later, to follow if the rules suddenly change (as it did happen). Not free, after all.
Rooms were rather small, but they were clean. Beds could have been softer, back was aching in the morning. View was excellent, however.
I did not like the way the breakfast was served, never seen it like this before. Every small bite you have to wait and ask from the Madame taking care of the breakfast room. Only sweeties were offered as plenty, otherwise it was quite a poor breakfast. Only tomatoes as a vegetable and "warm" dishes were not warm. Bacon was not fried at all, and when asked to do it, the answer was just no. Extra charge was taken from freshly made omelettes.
Bags you had to carry yourself through the stairs. Because the hotel tour was offered at the same time, it was plenty of stairs...
Beach was ok, even though the sunshine was at its best during the morning, when you were appointed a certain spot in the beach to stay. Perhaps this is a remnant of the Covid-19 practices. For some reason, in the evening, we were not allowed to set us in the direct sunlight in the sunny side of the beach. This was because of reserved seats, even if there was no-one there and thus tens of free seats available in the sun. The reason for this was never explained.
Location is the best in this hotel. You could not be closer to the sea than in here. Service...
Read moreThe hotel has a great location on the see a short walk from the beautiful town. Unfortunately we encountered numerous problems. First, the hotel does not provide any parking ,they give you a sticker and then you must find parking on the street. When we were shown to our room the smell of sewage was overpowering. We were promptly given another room however it seems like the staff all knew about the problem and no one had fixed the problem. The hotel is a bit run down and is showing it’s age. There is paint peeling and a general lack of care and maintenance. The screen to the window in our room did not close completely and it was ripped. Someone had tried to tape it together. The planters outside are barren of any flowers and there is just dirt in them. Breakfast in the morning was delicious however the breakfast room was intolerably warm with no apparent air conditioning. The air conditioning in our room turned on but did not cool the room sufficiently. I could go on but we made the best of it enjoying the beautiful view of the sea and the beautiful town of Porto...
