Our stay at Massimago Wine Tour was truly memorable. From the very first phone call with Sophia and her warm “can’t wait to have you stay with us” message, the hospitality felt genuine and personal. Upon arrival, beautiful and charming Patricia welcomed us with such warmth that it felt like returning to see an old friend. Lonelia further elevated our experience with her gracious and attentive breakfast service, which added to the family-like atmosphere.
A thoughtful detail we appreciated was being offered a glass of Massimago’s own Rosè during registration—an elegant and welcoming gesture. The accommodations, part of the historic entrance gate of the Castle of Padova dating back to the 1300s, have been beautifully restored into charming guest rooms. Our first-floor suite was tastefully decorated with character and charm, while the second-floor room was more modest yet spacious.
A couple of minor notes: the beds, particularly on the first floor, were less comfortable as they tended to slope inward, and the second-floor suite had an overpowering scent that made sleeping somewhat difficult. An easy fix.
The grounds are well maintained, and the location is ideal—a short and enjoyable walk to the center of Padova. Breakfast on the patio was a highlight, enhanced by the attentiveness of the amazing staff.
Overall, the warm hospitality, unique historic setting, and thoughtful touches made our stay unforgettable. We look forward to returning back here, as well to discovering Massimago’s other properties in the future.

Read moreI was in the Galileo suite, which occupies the top two floors of the tower.
Starting first with some possible downsides, there are lots of narrow stairs to navigate to reach the rooms. One of the staff helped me up with my luggage but I had to carry it down when I left and that was a little challenge! As the owners say themselves, this is not 5 star luxury but it certainly has everything you need. It is a short walk from the centre of town.
I thought it was magical place to stay. It is atmospheric and the top room in particular is filled with light. There is one window which looks onto a roundabout/supermarket but all the other eight or nine windows have beautiful views over the grounds and towards Padua. It is very quiet at night.
I had the breakfast and that was charming - delivered in a box to my room with a generous amount of food including fresh pastries. There are a couple of good places to eat about 5 minutes away or otherwise you can walk into town.
The staff are warm, welcoming and helpful and you can WhatsApp them with any questions. I did a wine tasting in the grounds, which was fun. There are two dogs - Pepe and Margot - who roam the grounds and they were both sweet (I love dogs).
I had a wonderful stay and I hope...
Read moreSet in beautiful grounds in a peaceful part of town, the Wine Tower is secluded amongst trees, and set well back from the road. The smell of jasmine, lavender and roses greet you, and the sight of the tower is impressive. It lies to the southwest of the centre, but is a short walk from the historic town, and a very good cake shop for breakfast! We had the lower apartment, which is spacious, though perhaps not as light as the upper… but a lot less stairs to climb! The lower room is an attractive kitchen with most appliances provided, (though a teapot with a spout and some tea-mugs would be good additions). Tea, coffee and milk were provided, as well as recommended restaurants and tours. The brochure explaining about the tower looked interesting but was only in Italian, so it remains a mystery to us! The bedroom is reached by some very steep steps, ( thankfully with a strong handrail!), and is also well-appointed with a large, comfortable bed. The bathroom is reached by more steps, and is modern and efficient, and incorporates historic features! The housekeeper is friendly and helpful, but doesn’t speak much English. We greatly enjoyed our stay, and would use Massimago Wine Tower for a...
