As a couple traveling with 5 children (3 teens, 1 preteen and a 10-year-old), spontaneity is not typically a style of travel we are accustomed to... especially not in August in Italy. But our son turned 15 and wanted to visit a beach with his friend visiting us from the US. When booking recommended Hotel Flying I was skeptical. A beachfront property in Pesaro, sea views, a private terrace and complimentary breakfast for under $200 per night. What was the catch?? I tortured myself reading reviews and comparing it to other properties. Other beaches. After all, we had never heard of Pesaro... only the more crowded Fano and Rimini beaches from friends. Since we've never been one to follow the crowd, I pulled the trigger on Hotel Fying. What a pleasant surprise! The front desk staff, especially Manuela during the day, was fantastic. So friendly, always smiling and available to offer suggestions and help in anyway. The rooms were as expected for an older property, small and a bit outdated. The large bed was not the most comfortable for 2 adults. That said, I was not intending to spend much time in the room and hoped we'd all be tired enough to just crash in the evening. We were. The balcony was the best part of the room and it worked for our situation (we had two rooms, 1 quadruple and 1 triple). The complimentary breakfast featured yogurts, cereals, hard boiled eggs, fruits and baked goods. It did the trick. The beach directly across the street is private and has an arrangement with the property for guests to reserve umbrellas and chairs for the day. The sand is incredibley soft and the reefs make for ideal shallow, but fun, swimming conditions for families. Overall, we had a great time and it was the perfect economical getaway. We...
Read moreThis is not a luxury hotel by any stretch of the imagination, but it has many strengths, and some of these are very important (at least to us). First, the location: right across the street from L’Artista, our favorite seafood restaurant in Pesaro. It’s also right on the beach, and the front rooms have spectacular views, sunny in the morning but shady as early as noon so you can rest or read on the balcony. The rooms are small but the furniture is functional and clean. The air conditioning works perfectly, and the elevator is efficient. The housekeeping is impeccable. The entrance hall includes a bar and a lounge, bright and sunny, where you can sit and read in comfort. Most important, the staff, without exception, are friendly and helpful, from the front desk to the breakfast room to the housekeeper.||||Only two criticisms. The bathrooms are very small and crowded; there is barely enough room to squeeze your legs in between the toilet and the shower. The other thing is the breakfast. Quality is middling overall, but there is enough variety that you can always find something quite decent. It’s weak on meats and cheeses and the eggs are usually just lukewarm, but there are plenty of cakes and croissants and very good yoghurt.||||We have decided to come back next year. This is just the kind of...
Read moreThe property was as cheap as a college hostel. The bed was poor quality the bathroom was old and dated. The worst of our stay was the all night loud music playing at the open air bar. We could not sleep and then the babies crying and mothers mad on our floor because of the noise was all horrible. we would not even recommend this for a thrifty stay as it ruined our trip as we couldn’t sleep at all. They offered us a different room when we complained but the hotel has 22 rooms and the bar is literally on the corner. not to mention the babies will wake up because of the music. We could not stand to spend another night so we left and stayed elsewhere and lost our money as they would not consider a rebate for the...
