We have just returned from the most wonderful 10 days at San Benedetto Camping. We stayed in the Corallo Top mobilhome which was spotlessly clean when we arrived, with a well-equipped kitchen and 2 bathrooms. We had our own Jacuzzi with an incredible view of the lake, and we loved watching the sunrises in the mornings from the outside table, and the lightning storms across the mountains at night. My 10 year old son was especially pleased as we could watch the roller coasters at Gardaland across the lake.||The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant at the reception desk, and were fluent in English and German ( almost everyone on the campsite was Italian or German which was lovely). They were happy to give information on day trips and public transport. They also sent a shuttle bus to pick us up fro the train station when we arrived. We used trains to get there from Bergamo airport, and found the train service to be very efficient and also very cheap.|| The swimming pools were clean and very quiet, we spend hours swimming in the pool, as most people found it a little cold for the pool ( we thought the water was quite warm!). The lifeguard was friendly and we didn't pay for sunbeds, we just sat on a blanket on the grass. The restaurant by the pool served delicious pizzas and pasta, and on our first night we were stunned by an incredible professional Brazilian dance show there.||We used a lot of public transport, and there is a regular and very cheap bus service from just outside the campsite. Be aware, they do fill the buses up to the maximum and you may have to stand, but we travelled by bus to both Malcesine to go up the cable car to Montebaldo, and to Sirmione which was close and absolutely stunning. We also took the boat from Peschiera del Garda to Sirmione, which was a more chilled way to visit, as we wanted to go swim again at Jamaica Beach, an absolutely stunning location. The bus also goes to Garland, and there's a free bus to Movieland as well. ||If you have kids of any age then Gardaland is a must. We went on a rainy day, which meant the queues for the rides were much smaller. We absolutely loved Mammut and Shaman coaster, but the two huge coaster Oblivion and Raptor were incredible. So big and fast, but so smooth and we felt very safe on the rides. Also it's worth knowing that it's only 9 Euros extra to go for 2 days, and we were glad we did this as there's so much to do. ||We swam in the lake every day too. It was clean and warm, and the beach was very chilled, with ducklings and cormorants. Right next to the campsite was a beach that rented out pedalos with big slides for 11 euros for an hour, we did this a lot as it was so much fun. We also love the walk into Peschiera, it only took 20 minute along the beach and tree-lined walkway and was preferable to the bus.||I would definitely return to this spot, and rent out the same accommodation again as we had a...
Read moreHad the pleasure of spending 9 nights here during August . The site is huge but the touring area only makes up about a 3rd of the site . The rest is made up of cabins . |The facilities on site are good , plenty of toilets and showers , rarely did we have to queue at busy periods . I always found them clean and the showers really powerful . The girls in the group weren't quite so impressed but I think that was just a girl thing . The site is divided with trees and gravel paths/tracks. The trees offered some shade during the hottest parts of the day . It's very quiet and every one was very respectful when it came to noise and rubbish . There are two pools both are a good size but can get busy at times ( we did go at the start of the school holidays ) . There are lots of sun beds which there is a small charge for €1-€1.50 a day can't remember which . They have lifeguards so children can play quite safely . The pools are next to the clubhouse/bar and there is also an entertainments area with a stage. There are daily water aerobics and a dance routine performed daily by the entertainment staff which the kids seemed to enjoy . It did on occasion get a bit annoying but think that may have been a lack of sleep on my part . The clubhouse serves some nice food , particularly the pizzas which are very reasonably priced . The drinks were more expensive so if you are planning a stay I suggest you take your own soft drinks as a can will set you back €3 . The waiting staff were very friendly if a little slow but at the time I think they were slightly understaffed . It got a bit faulty towers at time but did give us some added entertainment . We were for a time the only English on site but found everyone to be friendly with the majority made up of Dutch and German . There is no shop on site but that wasn't a problem as there is a bakery a minutes walk out of the camp main gate . Just down the road there are 2 supermarkets so supplies aren't a problem . We also enjoyed a burger meal in Steak and Shake which has a roof terrace which I can recommend to catch the sunset . There are a couple of local bars as well where they will serve you some free anti-pasti if you get there the right time of the day . The campsite borders Lake Garda , you only have to walk out either of the exits to put you right on the lake . We enjoyed the Lake and the water was lovely and warm with small pebbly beaches . It had the look of the Mediterranean and has an amazing back drop of mountains . You can again hire some sun beds , kayaks etc on the lake to enjoy the water , scenery from . The town of Pescheria is about a 15-20 min walk along the shore of the lake and is a must visit . There are plenty of eateries and again I found them reasonably priced . |All in all we loved my stay at this campsite and would definitely visit again we all wanted to stay and...
Read moreWe spend our summer holiday 2018 at camping San Bernadetto. Let me first start to describe why this is an excellent camp site. First off it's clean. Everything from the streets, the lavatory, the pool, restaurant it's all clean. Secondly: location. The camp site is located directly at the lake. Beautifull views, easy reachable from the motor way and in walking distance off Peschiera. For a relatively small camp site it offers everything you need (i.e. pool, restaurant with takeaway away, animation for kids and in the evening for adults) except for a supermarket. This means you need to leave the camp site for bread in the morning. Luckely there's a small bakery just outside the gates. So is a pizza place and a gelateria. (nb don't make the mistake of buying Italian ice cream on the camp site but please visit the gelateria outside, definetily worth the walk). I personally liked that you had to pay (€1,50) for a sunbed. This way there was always a free bed. Food and staff in the reataurant is also excellent!||||Okay, so why don't I recommend to go here!? Well we have two boys (10 and 6) and they are active children. They run, shout, through a ball, the type that doesn't sit still. If you immediately recognize this continue reading. If not, please by all means book your next holiday here and you'll have great time. If your kids are like mine don't go here. The lifeguards at the pool maintain the very strict pool rules by continuously blowing their whistle. My kids have been threatened to have their access to the pool denied several times. One time we we're even threatened to be expelled from the camp site completely. So what are you not allowed to do: play with inflatable toys (except for the shallow pool were small children play (!?), use a snorkel, jump in the water(!!!), frolic in the pool, no back flips in the grass, no salto's. Quote from the owner: "they can get in the water using ladder and swim the breaststroke" uhh they are 6 and 10... It's a difficult discussion because the argument you have to counter is 'safety first'. Off course I want my kids to be safe but they also need to be able to play. They are kids! There is a saying that the safest place for a ship is in the harbor. But that's not what a ship is build for. It had come to a point where out kids didn't even want to go to the pool any more. Because they were watched all the time and bored. So this is how one thing can ruin a perfectly excellent holiday. ||||I usually don't write reviews this long but I hope I can save someones holiday by writing this down. Because if your (active) kids have a good time it means you also get some relaxation.||||PS the restaurant by the lake is lovely, see my...
