I live in New York and had some business to do in Piacenza - I struggled picking out a hotel but found this one online. When it comes to hotels, i am really picky because I work hard and I want a peaceful, comfortable, safe, friendly place where i can go back, relax and lay back peacefully. I found that at the Algergo Roma in Piacenza.
If you're driving you will go into the restricted area of the city, but continue in and go to the hotel. Pull to the side and go in. You'll pull your car around to the side and go into their underground parking garage. The only thing i have to say is that this looks like it was once a stall for horses. it is REALLY TIGHT in there. You pull into an empty stall and you'll have to back forward and backwards a few times to get into it. An elevator takes you to the lobby. The lobby is small but very nice.
There's a restaurant in the hotel that is full service and their food is absolutely great. I was impressed. House wine was great - tasted my friends (not a big wine person, but this was very good wine). I ordered beer and they brought me a local brewed beer and it was GREAT!
As for rooms, i got the Farnese Suite which was a room with a bedroom, a living room, a walk in closet and a large bathroom with a shower/tub - fully up to date and modernized. The A/C was great. The room was very nice. I was with a small group and got to see a regular room that had two beds in it with a bath - same thing: Fully modern.
I strongly recommend the Grande...
Read moreThe Grand Alberto Roma wow what a lovely hotel to stay in. We chose this for 3 night's rest on our way down to Ancona to catch the ferry to Greece for the start of our 10week touring holiday of Turkey Greece and the Agean. This hotel is beautiful it has a bar/ eating area on the roof with Panoramic views of Piacenza it's just stunning. We had a beautiful room to stay in and an underground car park to park our Motorcycle in whilst there. It's 2 minutes walk from the cathedral and Square and lots of resturants and places to eat. The staff here are exceptionally helpful and I have to say a special thank you to Rafaella who helped me out with a problem I was having trying to download my Insurance on my iPad for our motorcycle that my relative had sent us for riding in Turkey that we needed when we landed of the ferry in Cesme with her help we had no problem entering the bike though the customs when we arrived. The Hotel its self is a really nice place to stay and we shall stay here again when next...
Read moreFirst of all I should caveat this review as being part of a cycling group and during a period of ( some ) covid restrictions.
Rooms are beautifully appointed and very clean. Location of the hotel is also very good and close to the centre of this stunning historic city.
Wifi was hard to locate/ connect, which is a basic service these days.
Service is where there is work needed. The welcome was cold and officious. Service in the bar was appalling, as a group of 11 we were ignored for over 15 minutes and then ended up rushing our pre dinner drinks as a result.
Breakfast was a farce, poorly managed and planned with very strange interpretation of the restrictions. Served buffet, but sadly understaffed and those in attendance very slow and what appeared to be poorly trained or prepared. As a group of cyclists with a full day of cycling ahead whet we needed was full and swift access to our fuel for the day.
All in all stunning rooms and location, let down by cold and...
