Added answer to the hotels comment in the bottom I recently stayed at STOA Guesthouse, and my experience was extremely concerning and disappointing. On the night of July 15, 2024, I received an electric shock from a bedside lamp in my room. This incident caused the room lights to flicker, and I suffered severe discomfort, including heart palpitations, nausea, and a headache. I had to seek medical attention, and tests fortunately confirmed that I was physically okay. Upon returning to the guesthouse in the middle of the night, my partner and I felt extremely uncomfortable and decided to check out the next morning. When I reported the incident to the staff and presented the medical report, the manager, Angela, was dismissive, unprofessional, and even accused me of lying. She made derogatory comments in German to her colleagues, thinking I wouldnt understand it. She laughed when I suggested getting an electrician to look at it and said it was definitely not necessary. Which made me think: What else has she been told about that has been ignored?
I want to add: They Said I did not need to pay for the stay, which was a good thing, I am making this review because of the treatment I got after what happened.
Dear Angela, When I got the electric shock, the power went out, so your circuit breaker does work correctly. The lights flickered and went out when the shock occurred, which was good. However, this does not mean that one cannot get a shock. I am now very tired of your constant accusations from start to finish, claiming that I did not get shocked at your hotel. I did not inform you immediately when it happened because it was very late in the evening, and the reception was closed. I clearly remember passing by people in the reception/lobby, and you were among them. It was the first time I saw you, so I couldn't know you worked there, which is why I didn't say anything—why should I (in a situation where I felt unwell) approach a group of strangers to tell them I had just been shocked? I was on my way to the hospital. I informed you first thing in the morning. After the shock, I googled how to handle electric shocks, and in Denmark (where I am from), it is normal procedure to see a doctor to check that heart rhythm is as it should be, etc. I also called my insurance, which guided me to the nearest hospital. Therefore, I do not understand why you think this behavior was unusual. I don’t know why I got shocked by the lamp; I’m not an electrician. The doctor did not try to prove that I got shocked; the doctor conducted necessary examinations, and I was allowed to leave when my results were as they should be. If there is a way to prove that a shock has occurred, please let me know, and I will gladly take that “test,” although I do not believe it is physically possible to prove one has been shocked. You yourself said we didn’t have to pay when we stood together in the elevator. You spoke rudely to me the whole time, even in German when you thought I didn’t understand it. You laughed mockingly, and the only thing you repeated again and again was that I was lying. It was very unpleasant. When you saw that we were originally supposed to stay at your hotel for three more nights, you became very angry. The conversation led nowhere, and you never said what you thought could be a good solution. In the end, I told you, “I'm leaving now,” because I couldn't endure your condescension and accusations any longer. I wanted to resolve this in a calm and orderly manner. I was also in the hotel parking lot for quite some time afterward. You, therefore, had plenty of opportunities to say something if you wanted to continue the conversation.
Yes, there is a first time for everything, and this was also the first time I was threatened with the police to remove a review. If you want to have a real dialogue, we can do it through booking.com, where this trip was booked, as this does not lead to anything...
