My husband and I fell in love with Reggio Calabria many many years ago and go every year to visit. We always stay at Hotel Medinblu and they did not disappoint this time. We were on our way to Reggio Calabria when the global IT issue happened in July. Well, this derailed our travel to over 24 hours. Needless to say we were not happy campers when we finally arrived at Hotel Medinblu around 10pm we were starving and I was worried about where we would eat since we were tired. But the staff there as always were the best. They took our bags from us and brought them to our room and escorted us up to the rooftop where we learned that since our last visit last year Hotel Medinblu now had a restaurant at the hotel. The food was delicious and fresh. We enjoyed it so much that during our visit we decided to eat there 2 more nights to fully enjoy the culinary experience. ||Our first night after traveling over 24 hours we kept it light and just had an entrée each – we went with simple pasta dishes but they were unbelievable. The amount of flavor each one had was to die for. I want to go back just for the smoked spaghetti.||Our second night was a beautiful night. The sun was going down and the hotel has the best sunset over looking Sicily. We’ve always enjoyed sitting on the rooftop with a cold glass of prosecco and watching the sun go down while visiting. What I love now is I can enjoy a great meal while watching the sun go down. I’ve included some pictures of us at the restaurant and pictures of the restaurant itself. As always, the staff are so nice and helpful I taking pictures of us. We’ve been to many restaurants where the wait staff are annoyed when you ask them to take a picture but every time I asked someone to take a picture of us they were more than happy to do so. They also have the cutest light up sign that says “Medinblu”. I loved it and took many pics in front of it. I absolutely loved the grey/white/black color tone of the restaurant. It looked so fresh and clean. The chairs were unbelievably comfortable and we also noticed that the tables did not have bars on the ends so if someone was to sit at the end their legs would not hit a bar which we thought was so thoughtful. That night we had another great meal. We ordered the fish of the day and were pleasantly surprised when it was cut up tableside. It is always an amazing thing to watch. ||Our third night we decided to indulge some more. While waiting for our table we sat at the bar and were thoroughly entertained by Stefano the bartender and his drinks. I’ve had a lot of margaritas in my life but Stefano’s margarita was by far the best I have ever had. He was telling us how he creates a lot of the drinks at the restaurant and we were so fascinated by the pairing and he let us sample a few and we were blown away. We were also treated to a DJ at the restaurant that night. We had so much fun dancing and eating and drinking. What we loved the most is the DJ music is not so loud that you can’t even have a conversation. We hate when you go to restaurant and you can’t speak to one another because the music is so loud. ||Desserts – everyone’s favorite and they did not disappoint. My god were the desserts good. The Tiramisu was to die for. I love Tiramisu and this is now my favorite. We also enjoyed the tartufo and the mixed berries semifreddo. Those both are a close second to the tiramisu.||I honestly think we ate almost the entire menu and definitely can’t wait for our visit next year. If you are going to Reggio Calabria and even if you don’t stay at Hotel Medinblu make sure you eat at their Restaurant. We are foodies and one of the reasons we love going to Reggio Calabria is for all the great food. But I have to say the food at Medinblu Lounge Restaurant is one of the best we have ever eaten at. You won’t...

We were so impressed with the changes they had made since our last visit. ||The breakfast – they upgraded the breakfast area and it looks absolutely beautiful. The layout of all the food is perfect. We enjoyed the fresh fruit (pineapple, watermelon, apples) and pastries everyday. I loved the pastry heater. All the pastries were nicely warm when we went to eat them. They also now include one hot breakfast choice per day per person as part of your stay. Previously on all our other stays this was an extra charge. You have a choice of eggs (fried or scrambled) with bacon, plain or stuffed crepes or plain or stuffed waffles. My husband got the scrambled eggs with bacon and I got the crepes with nutella. We could not believe how many eggs they cooked for the scrambled eggs. We asked and they said 3 eggs. In the US you would never get that many eggs for no charge. My crepe was out of this world. We went to Paris after Italy and I had a crepe there and it wasn’t as good as the one I had at Hotel Medinblu. We decided to get the same thing each day because they were so good. ||The dinner – they also redid the menu for their restaurant. We didn’t think it could get any better but they knocked it out of the park. We ate at the restaurant 2 nights and were not disappointed both nights. We dined on fresh fish, fresh pasta, meatballs, fried chicken with the best homemade french fries and desserts. OMG the desserts were out of this world. The Director Sergio Pitasi came over to us while we were eating dinner the first night and was chatting with us. We have gotten to know the entire staff over the years and they are always so kind to us each visit. My husband was raving to him about a mussels and pasta dish he had for dinner. My husband said it was one of the best things he had ever eaten in his life (and I have to agree). Serigo called over the Chef so that we could tell him how good it was. After talking for a while my husband said “I wish I could learn how to make that dish.” The Chef immediately responded “How would you like to learn how to make it tomorrow?” We both thought he was joking but he wasn’t. Sergio arranged for me and my husband to learn to cook that dish along with a dessert the very next day. We had never taken a cooking class before but we had the best time. The Chef was so patient with us and he spoke perfect English so we didn’t need anything to be translated. He went step by step with us on his mussel’s dish explaining each step in detail so that we could take notes and ask any questions. He also taught me how to make a Bergomotto Cake. This cake was one of the best things I ever ate in my life. I was able to take the cake home and share it with our family and everyone loved it. The Chef also was so kind and typed up the recipes for us and made copies and gave them to us to take home. I have to say taking this last-minute cooking class turned out to be one the best things we have ever done in Italy. ||The hotel is beautiful and still looks brand new. The rooms are so spacious and clean. The location of the hotel is also perfect. You are right on the main street and only 1 block...

I must first address the staff who are friendly, helpful and who provided us with information to enhance our stay.|I have paid 7 times the price at other hotels and didn’t receive the warmth, kindness and service we received here; not to mention the wonderful location and sea view. Corso Garibald was right behind the hotel and was so charming and offered shopping, restaurants and some of the best gelato anywhere.|We had two rooms which were spotless, spacious, had some seriously good air conditioning and a great shower. The housekeeping staff did such a great job. I hope the management sees this review and tells them. Housekeeping is the unsung hero!|Finally, there are no words to describe Fabrizio. He escorted family members to a tiny village to visit family. He was the driver, translator, guide and so much more. My communication with him was some of the best interaction I have had with anyone, and again, I have stayed at hotels 7 times the cost. |My husband and I travel extensively and I had stopped writing reviews, but this trip compelled me to become more active on TA. Medinblu and the other two hotels we stayed at in Naples deserved recognition. You can read my review on the fourth hotel as it doesn’t deserve to be mentioned here alongside the amazing Hotel Medinblu.|Did I mention Fabrizio? 😊 He definitely deserved a second shout out. The other staff was just as gracious, but he happened to be the tour guide to Chiarella, so he provided so much extra.|A free breakfast was included in our room. When I go back, the management is going to realize the hotel could charge much more and the price would be worth it.|Thank you everyone at...
