L’Arena dello Stretto, intitolata tra le polemiche al senatore Ciccio Franco, è un anfiteatro di moderna costruzione concepito a imitazione degli antichi teatri greci. Situato sul lungomare Italo Falcomatà a Reggio Calabria, nel punto in cui prima del terremoto del 1908 sorgeva il Molo di Porto Salvo. Maestoso, a semicerchio, è spesso sede degli eventi più importanti della città. Offre un panorama suggestivo e meraviglioso affacciato sullo Stretto di Messina sotto lo sguardo assiduo dello sbuffante Mongibello. Al vertice dell’Arena è incastonato Cippo Marmoreo, con la statua Athena Promachos, monumento dedicato a Vittorio Emanuele III eretto sul Molo di Porto Salvo dove egli sbarcò, toccando per la prima volta il suolo italiano da sovrano, il 31 luglio 1900, che inaugurato nel 1932.
