A great hotel if you can avoid the reception!
A Roma Lifestyle hotel is a tranquil haven away from the city center, offering a relaxing atmosphere away from the city center. While some may feel that the hotel's location to be remote or inconvenient, I found the distance from the commotion to be calming. The hotel is two separate but identical looking buildings. The hotel has a beautiful ambience and well-maintained rooms. The lobby is beautiful with tasteful decor.
The breakfast buffet is extensive and delicious and there is a good variety of choice. The buffet area is ably served by professional, smiling and helpful staff.
Location: The hotel is located in calm surroundings and is around 4.5 kms away from the city center and offers a shuttle service that costs 5 EUR per person per trip. The hotel is also connected with public transport via bus H (bus stop Biagio Pace is 500 m away). You can also take the bus 98 to the Vatican City (bus stop Buon Pastore is 500m away). If you wish to take the tram you can use tram 8 (from the tram terminus Casaletto).
Rooms: We opted for a family suite. The family suite is basically two separate rooms with a common door. We stayed here for 7 nights and loved every minute of it. Our room was at the 1st floor and even then we had an excellent view from there. The rooms are cozy, bright and are well cleaned; the staff is very friendly. There was a minibar (free of charge), good sized wardrobe, clean bathroom with a bidet. There is also a safe and iron and ironing board (the latter on request). You can opt to forgo housekeeping for a day in exchange for a 15 EUR voucher per room.
Facilities: Service at the spa is impeccable. The hotel has a separate web page just for the spa services (https://www.liviaspa.com/en/). The outdoor pool is closed during the winter months. The indoor pool can be used for around 20 EUR for people with family suite accommodation. Kids are allowed at the pool only between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
Gripes: The front desk / reception is the heartbeat of any hotel. But here, less than 10% of the front desk staff are helpful, smiling and make the guest feel comfortable. They are anything but proactive, usually turning their heads off when you walk past them making this part of the hotel experience a lottery. If you are lucky, you will encounter someone in that 10%. The restaurant has much more customer friendly, helpful staff. The hotel would do well to bring them out to the reception desk. And hide these 90% people with miserable facial expressions from customer facing roles. As described earlier, the family suite is basically two separate rooms with a common door. The first day saw us locked out of this common door with no key. When we approached the reception, they were as clueless as we were. We went back towards our rooms and after standing outside in the corridor for about 30 minutes, a lady came to us and handed over a key and told us that it was the only key left for that common door in the entire hotel. God forbid if this key got misplaced, then we would be standing outside for a very long time. Our booking was for 8 nights, but we arrived 1 day late to the hotel due to flight disruptions. We informed the hotel about this and when we arrived we had asked for a separate invoice for the day we couldn’t stay so that we can this matter up with the airline company. How this simple request got misunderstood I don’t know but we ended up being billed for 9 nights. After a number of unpleasant trips to the reception (read above), we finally found a guy at the reception who understood the problem and worked to get the extra day’s billing cancelled. At the time of this review, we still haven’t...
Read moreSubstantial lack of communication! Amazing hotel but that is it. It is heavily let down by the lack of communication.
There is absolutely no information on the hotel amenities which is usually on a piece of paper in your room upon arrival.
Try calling reception, room service etc and they NEVER answer!!!!!! It's the worst hotel we have ever stayed in as the staff don't communicate let alone rarely smile.
The phone lines and internet went down... do that was fun.. could not call reception for over 1 hour.. not that they answer regardless.
Rooms were spacious and very clean. We had a family suite which were 2 adjoining rooms.
2 of the window locks did not work which were extremely dangerous as there are no other screens but we asked they be fixed and this was done promptly.
The tiled floor areas were filthy. In 5 minutes our white socks were black! I asked them too mop and they did however there was barely any noticeable difference.
Breakfast was alot but one of the worst breakfasts we have had. Even though there was "alot of food" there wasn't much at all. Fruit was not replenished often at all, coffee from the machines were mediocre.
There is a kids play ground next the the restaurant where the buffet breakfast is but its only open when breakfast is open and apparently when dinner is open but that is not every night.
Walking around close by is easy and there is a PAM supermarket which was convenient.
We found a restaurant which was amazing.. it was called "Bar Vittoria". It was extremely well priced and food was fresh and delicious.. it's a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
The mini bar in the room was great but on the 2nd last day they did not replenish the food and drinks 100% which was disappointing.
This hotel has potential but with the lack of communication is let's it down so much which is a pity.
We got the hotel shuttle into the city and they charged us for 4 adults for 2 days instead of 2 adults and 2 children for 1 day so that took a little bit to fix.
I don't think we will stay at this hotel unfortunately ad the area is great. Staff need to...
Read moreWow what an amazing place! The front desk were very helpful and the room was something else! We had the family room which is huge (3 full bathrooms, small hallway, 2 dressing rooms and 2 large bedrooms) and in excellent condition. The 2 mini bars were complimentary, refilled each day and really helpful to fuel your sight-seeing. The 2 children received a nice metal bottle for water and the room had multiple glass bottles which can be refilled from water points in the corridors (a really good tactic to reduce plastic waste). They also run a scheme where if you choose to not have your room cleaned for a day, they give you a 15 euro voucher (up to 2 vouchers) for use for anything hotel related. Again, a good option to reduce your footprint. The pool is very nice but does have an erratic slopey edge so if you struggle to get in and out of a pool you need to be careful. Towels are free. The grounds are all nicely maintained and benefits from being out of town with the clearer air and greenery. Food is very good, very good buffet breakfast. I would highly recommend the evening buffet which is on Wednesday to Sunday. Its great value for money and has a good atmosphere, especially on nights they have music playing. The cost (€35 an adult and children are free) includes drinks making it cheaper than going elsewhere. Notably a lot of locals visited for it, seemingly for special occasions. The hotel is on the edge of the city and so it does require using the full length of the Number 8 tram. It is super cheap (€1.50 for adults, kids free, you can buy the ticket from the hotel but remember to validate it onboard) and takes approx 40-45 mins to get to the end at Venezia. This is a decent start to begin sightseeing and getting about. The hotel does offer a shuttle service to the Vatican in the mornings and the shopping district in the afternoon but it is €5 each, each way. All in all I would regard it as good value hotel for the services and facilities it provides, and well worth the effort of travelling into the city,...
