We have recently returned from a 2 week break to Selva Val Gardena, staying at the Flora, and enjoyed the spectacular Dolomites.||The hotel couldn’t have been more welcoming, the staff were more than happy to sort any problems we had during our stay.||The restaurant was spotlessly clean and the waiter was always on hand to keep us fed and watered throughout our visit, especially on the breakfast shift when you’re wanting to get on first lifts. ||Breakfast was continental style with meat, cheeses, cereals and freshly boiled eggs, the breads available were super delicious.||Evening meals were 4 courses every night, salad bar, starter, mains, and puss, all beautifully prepared and presented.||The general cleanliness of the hotel was impressive, staff seemed to be constantly making sure everything was in pristine condition, even the boot room was cleaned regularly. ||The bar is snug, but welcoming, and prices are reflective of the general resort prices, and the house wine was very good, although they had an extensive wine menu as well.||The position of the hotel is at the lower end of the resort, but the free buses run up and down the valley to various resorts and to the main lift, and is a few minutes walk to the bus stops, and they are pretty regular at main ski times.||Al in all an excellent hotel to enjoy the amazing Dolomites, we talked to returning guests who had been in winter and summer had stayed in this hotel into the 20’s times, and we would not hesitate to stay here again, a beautiful hotel in a beautiful location in a...
Read moreWe stayed here as part of a large group in early February.||||The Hotel is family run and small to moderate in size. We had a corner room and liked it very much indeed. We overlooked the main road with a balcony, but there was no traffic noise until shortly before we got up each morning. The bed was comfortable, the room spacious and the bathroom very good with plenty of hot water at peak times - we had a bath, others in our group had showers.||||The bar is small and friendly. The evening meals were very good, consisting of a salad course followed by three more. There was no choice each day and we did get a pork main course for our first 3 days, but then not for the rest of the week. You could tell it was all freshly cooked. We were a party of 16 and Ingrid, the excellent waitress, would often bring the food in batches as they cooked the next batch. There was one vegetarian in our group for whom they cooked a pasta dish or eggs each night.||||Breakfast is good with a variety of foods available. The only hot food was hard boiled eggs.||||It is well located. The ski bus stop in either direction is around 70m from the hotel. The first stop in the direction of Selva is the main Campinoi lift about 400m away (you could almost walk it). The snow was very good and we could ski back to within 100m of the Hotel and didn't need the bus in the evening.||||Overall the Hotel is very good indeed. It's good value, friendly, comfortable and well positioned. I'd give it 5* if it had a choice of main course. I hope we stay...
Read moreThis really should have been a five-star review but for one or two things that annoyed. The good stuff first: it's a beautiful hotel in a really great location. You can virtually ski back at the end of the day but a walk or a (crowded) bus ride is required in the morning. The rooms are a lovely size with really nice bathrooms (though none with baths, apparently.) The food is great, and, as someone who doesn't like pasta, I was pleased that the kitchen were able to make me an omelette to replace this course each evening. A 10 star award should be given to our extremely hardworking waiter, Lubo. He was always helpful & managed the entire dining room with speed, efficiency and good humour.|And now for the less good things. When we arrived, after getting up at ridiculous o'clock & a long journey we, & the other guests, were greeted with a very cool welcome by madame at reception. I appreciate that we were slightly too early for housekeeping to have our rooms ready, but that doesn't excuse her attitude, which seemed to be that we were an irritation. Her lack of customer service was also confirmed when I made the (not unusual) request for more bedding one evening. The hotel is not heated to a ridiculous degree (unlike hotels in the old days) which is fair enough with the cost of utilities, but madame at reception was both unhelpful and rude. I had to ask my holiday rep to intervene on my behalf! |So, to sum up, I would definitely return here, it's just a shame that madame doesn't like...
