Arrived in Scilla but can’t access village with cars. Need to wait for 3 wheeled taxi to pickup our luggage & take to hotel which actually is in Chinalea., but beach is Scilla.walking distance about 700m away. We booked a double room with balcony & sea view. The view is breathtaking. The streets are narrow & long meandering through their homes. Very pretty. Hotel room is on 2nd floor very narrow stairs two flights room isn’t big, but comfortable. Air conditioned but our glass sliding door has missing shutters therefore very hot & bright. Bathroom tiny. I struggled. Shower very narrow & small but we managed as we enjoyed the quaintness of the little town. So pretty. Right on ocean front. Breakfast was in another building. Down the street s little up 2 or 3 flights of stairs. Hard on knees. Breakfast was basic. Pastries, toasted squares, jam, fresh cakes, orange juice & coffee/tea. Scrambled egg. Yoghurt. ||Beautiful town gorgeous beach. Reef shoes needed as lots of stones & pebbles. Need to book deck chairs & umbrellas as beach fills very quickly. Wonderful beach with great...
Read moreA big dissapointment and a bad experience! Avoid this place! you will pay for 4 stars and you’ll get : an old furnished room with an iron bed without headboard, very small shower 60x60 cm size, dirty and with mold. The table lamp is before 70’s and the air conditioning doesn’t work properly. We paid extra for a room with sea view and we’ve got a partial sea view with our room on the side of the buiding. The balcony is very smalland we couldn’t enjoy even the side view - as we had only one chair in the room. The bad covers are also very old and the overall athmosfere is cheap and low. |The breakfast was served in a different location -microwaved cold eggs, plain yogurth and jams and cakes - very poor for the price paid.|We never met the owner in peraon and the guy who check us in did not speack english at all. |Finally, at check out we needed to pay 4 eur for turist tax....mandatory in cash. Since the only the ATM machine available is at 17 minutes away - up on the hill, you can imagine the experience! |Lucky us that we stayed...
Read moreAbsolutely disgusting environment. The location, the room, the surroundings and the owner made this the worst place we have ever been in 29 years of travel! . We booked a room in Scilla and when we arrived there were employees buzzing around but NO GUESTS anywhere. This should have been a red flag but in Italy we have never experienced bad hospitality. We never expected he was part of an organization that scams tourists. The owner had us assigned to a "suite" offsite. There was no transportation to this property so we had to walk alone, a great distance, uphill to the next town Chianalea with our luggage which was ruined. When we got there it was a 3rd floor tiny studio with no amenities or working phone. Thank god we didn't let him hold our passports. We had prepaid but because of how unsafe it was we decided to eat the cost and flee this horrific place. We debated a different hotel but the beach was covered in trash, broken glass and cigarettes....
