Ganfo — Hotel in Sirmione

We stayed at 4 stars in Venice & Florence on our trip, but knew we would not get a 4 star anywhere around Lake Garda in August for the prices we paid in those 2 places. Wanting to stick to budget, the reviews on this little 2 star seemed really good, and so it proved.||||Small bar / hotel on the road between Peschiera & Sirmione. The lake is just on the other side of the buildings on the opposite side of the road and easily accessed by the many little walkways between the buildings, so if you fancy an evening stroll along the waterfront, nice and easy.||||Despite it being August, we had no problem parking in one of the designated parking bays for the hotel. Went into the hotel, checked in and went to our room. Room was small for 2 adults and 2 kids, but we weren't planning on staying in the hotel room all day, so not bothered. Bathroom was small and shower was a bit cramped. Pillows were very hard and square shaped but overall, the room was clean and tidy, which was the main thing. Air con, which was a God send at the end of July / beginning of August. We were in room 2, one floor up. The nearby road gave little noise, even at this busy time of year.||||We arrived by car after a couple of nights in Mestre, Venice and spent the day before checking in travelling around the Lake (Malcesine & Riva mainly) so did arrive late at night. Our full day there was spent in Gardaland, about a 20 minute drive away. After our second night, we drove into Sirmione itself before leaving for Florence.||||Sirmione itself is beautiful. It is very much worth driving along the strip which sticks out into the Lake as, although the hotel is classed as being in Sirmione, it is about a 10 minute drive away to the Castle / Lido part of the town.||||We booked the breakfast with the room, and pretty much the same as my Mestre/Venice review, wish we hadn't only because I felt we would have been better setting out for the day earlier and eating out, especially in Sirmione itself. So, this is no disrespect to the owner, just a preference which we over looked. As mentioned by others, the owner spoke little English but we mutually understood each other from broken phrases both ways and gestures, LOL||||Overall, more than we paid for 4 star hotels in other areas of Italy on our trip, but it's about the location you're in and in the high season but as I say the main thing is that, especially for a 2 star, clean & tidy and that's what matters most,...

Me and my wife were searching for a comfortable but not to expensive stay - B&B. Finally we decided for the Hotel Ganfo. We were pleasantly surprised by the cleaniness of the whole establishment (rooms, restaurant, bar) its location and a very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel offers everything you need to spend the night very comfortably. The breakfast is very carefully prepared and served and gives you strength to explore the Lake Garda region for the whole day.||||The Hotel (Albergo) is situated cca. 50 meters from the Lake Garda (one must just cross the local street to reach the beach - Spiaggia Communale). ||||Also it is located very close to all of the Garda Parks (Gardaland, Caneva, Movieland, Safari...) - less than 10 minutes drive and 30-35 minutes drive via motorway to the city centre of Verona with the roman amfitheathre and the house of Julliet and...||||But most of all we enjoyed a small picturesque antique city of Sirmione with a great castle and its small narrow alleys. The old centre is approx. 8 kiloometers from the hotel Ganfo so it is easily reachable by bicycle.||||We enjoyed our...
