Hotel Derby is a decent priced hotel, located just outside Sirmione and run by a husband and wife time. It is yards from the shore of the southern end of Lake Garda just East of the Sirmione penisula. 30 minutes from Verona airport and transport can be arranged with the hotel, to and from. It is has been a family run hotel for 35 years, and my four day stay made me feel welcome, like I was in someones home rather than a formal hotel. This was my first visit to Lake Garda and won't be my last. We crammed a lot in to the four days and that was thanks to the help of the staff here. It is a good place to base yourself whilst exploring Lake Garda. It is easy to get to Sirmione from here by bus or a cheap taxi ride- like everything in the area it is not a stressful experience. From Sirmione you can then get the ferry to all the other places on the lake. Don't worry the staff will tell you exactly how to get back and forward to anywhere in the area and offering you discounts if they can. The hotel serves a filling breakfast. The bar offers a selection of beers, local wines and spirits. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with tv and ensuite toilets and air conditioning. Even in July with temperatures over 30 degrees centigrade, the rooms were still cool. The owners speak perfect English and German. At night there are plenty of restaurants and bars close by (two minutes walk) at differing prices. There is free wifi...

Over all and...
