Ci sono luoghi che ti prendono il cuore e che ti trasportano in mondi differenti o, forse, semplicemente veri e sempre più rari. “Cascina Maddalena” é uno di queste realtà che mi rapiscono il cuore. Invaghita e incuriosita platonicamente dal “sentito dire” riguardante il loro vino, ci sono stata la prima volta. Volevo provare il loro “Capotesta” prima di tutto e non cercavo altro. Quando ho percorso il loro viale circondato dalle viti mi si sono subito illuminati gli occhi. Poi, arrivata sotto il porticato, trovando vecchi attrezzi, un agriturismo curato, genuino, arredato perfettamente in linea con la loro location ma, soprattutto, con la loro filosofia… beh, quello ha confermato il mio interesse e i miei occhi a cuoricino. Poi é stato il momento del cibo e del vino. Affettati e formaggi freschi, genuini e sani. Marmellata di fichi fatta in casa da chiedere non il bis, ma molto di più. E il piatto forte? Lo spiedo con polenta e verdure fresche (con tanto di ripasso). A mio giudizio é il miglior spiedo bresciano mai mangiato. Tutto si conclude con i dolci fatti in casa: classici, freschi, genuini e deliziosi. Lungo il pasto il loro vino. E, dalle parole ai fatti, ho riscontrato tutti i complimenti e le descrizioni che mi erano state riferite da amici intenditori. E la ciliegina sulla torta? La famiglia di Cascina Maddalena. Delle persone sincere, concrete, disponibili e davvero gentili. Persone che ci mettono amore e cura, attenzione e rispetto per la loro terra. Una famiglia che accoglie, ti rende partecipe del suo mondo e ti apre le porte della propria casa. Questo é quello che avevo riscontrato la prima volta e che mi ha portata a continuare a parlare di loro e a portare anche i miei amici che sono stati entusiasti di conoscere Cascina Maddalena e che non vedono l’ora di tornare. Ecco… sono queste le attività che amo. Le realtà concrete. Sincere. Genuine. Vitali e di ottima qualità. Se ancora non la conoscete, fidatevi di me e non fatevela sfuggire!

We planned to just have a wine tasting experience here, but were lucky enough to find a lunch event was available while we were in the area. I am so glad we had this experience. Elisa and her family were welcoming, generous, and clearly proud of their products. The food was incredible. Plentiful, fresh, and tasty. All of the food was locally sourced, with some of it even being from their garden. My mouth is watering just thinking about it again! The wines were just as tasty as the food. It was hard to pick a favourite! The names of each of the wines had a story/reason which was a nice touch. We will definitely be back when we're in the area next.

We had a wonderful visit, the winery is set in stunning grounds and the building itself/terrace is beautiful. The tour was interesting but not too long and the young lady was able to answer all of our questions. The tasting experience itself was delicious and we really appreciated our own table, the cheese, bread, olive oil and grandmas homemade chutney! All wines were fantastic but we especially enjoyed the sparkling and clay varieties. We will have to return when the Rose makes a comeback! Thank you so much.

This is our first trip to Italy, and we have loved our week in Sirmione. The afternoon spent with Elisa (and family) was a real highlight though. The warm welcome, the fascinating tour of the vineyard and production facilities, and then sitting down to sample some truly memorable wines, accompanied by some delicious cheeses, chutney and bread in the Sirmione sunshine all made for an afternoon we will remember long after we return to the UK. Anyone staying at the Hotel Alfieri or locally, should definitely add this to your places to visit. If your Italian is as embarrassingly poor as ours, don’t worry. Elisa’s English is much better! Would highly recommend as a brilliant way to spend a couple of hours of your holiday and the lugana wines and this winery are...

Last Saturday night, my family and i, enjoyed a pick nick in the wineyards at Cascina Maddalena. Mattia introduce us to the art and crafts of Lugana's wine making procedures, visiting the wine cellar.. followed by an "al fresco" aperitif.The lights in the wineyards, soft music in the background, blankets and covers (bring your own) on the floor.. Everything (cutlery,glasses,appetizers..) is placed in a wooden box...the hot dish is served by waiters. Special treat for kids. What a lovely afternoon. After a tour around the winery we sat down and relaxed trying 5 different wines with bread, cheese and meats. A lovely family business that they put so much into. Love to support the smaller businesses when we are away. The passion the family have for their wine shows in the fantastic taste of it. We have done many wine tastings around Italy and always find the smaller vineyards better than the huge commercial ones. Highly recommend this for anyone looking for a nice relaxing afternoon in a beautiful setting, with people that show true passion about their history and product. Easy to get to on our bikes as well.
