when we arrived, it was not apparent where we were to enter. When we called the number the man came to us after 5 minutes. He told us to enter a different entrance so we went and the building was very strange. We took the stairs to the 3rd floor and realized that it’s basically a hostel with a private bathroom. We asked to see the room and he allowed us. Then my wife looked and by her face showed that it was not a good place. The man became upset and started to tell us how if he was Italian instead of Indian probably we wouldn’t ask to see the room. However, the condition of the entryway and building in general is what caused us to ask to see the room. He was personally offended despite me also being a person of color. The room was old, without any comfort. The bathroom had a bad smell from the plumbing and when taking a shower the water doesn’t drain out fast enough so it fills up rapidly. Very bad experience. I think many places in Venice try to pretend to be nicer than they are but are very poor. Cannot recommend.
