B&B The Lions was by far our favourite place to stay whilst travelling through Europe. Marina was such a friendly host. Prior to us arriving in Verona I contacted Marina to explain that we were going to arrive in the city in the early hours. Marina very kindly allowed us to check in and have our room at 8am for no extra charge, which after travelling through the night by bus from Munich we were beyond grateful as it meant we could get a couple of hours sleep before we headed out to explore the city.||||Marina is such a lovely woman and from our experience staying with her, her main concern is making sure her guests have a brilliant stay and make the most from their visit to Verona. She sat down with us and showed us on a map where everything of interest was, as well as (in her opinion) when the best part of the day to visit each was. This proved very useful and many sights we visited both during the day and at night thanks to her recommendations.||||Breakfast was included and after staying in budget hostels for several weeks this was definitely appreciated by both me and my partner. It was a 'do it yourself' breakfast that included eggs, cheese, bread, meats, yoghurts, milk, cereals, fruit and biscuits amongst other bits, which Marina put out each morning for us. And lucky us got double yolks in every one of our eggs whilst staying there! ha (Where did you get those eggs Marina?!)||||We were rather lucky with our stay as the other rooms in the B&B were empty so we actually had the place to ourselves - so we made the most of the kitchen facilities and the balcony, which has such beautiful views of Verona.||||The room we stayed in was large and clean with an unbelievably comfortable bed. There was a wardrobe (not that we used it, being so used to living out of our rucksacks), bedside tables, lamps and a chair in the room. The bathrooms were both clean and there was good water pressure in the showers. The B&B also has a large dining/living space where you can relax and/or eat meals, but we chose to eat outside on the balcony most of the time :)||||The Lions is well located within a 20minute walk of the centre (arena, Juliet's house etc) There are several small shops a stones throw away and larger supermarkets further into the centre. There is also a bus stop right outside the building that will take you to/from the main bus/train stations for a couple of euros. We walked around the entire city and only used the bus service to get to and from the station, the city is fairly easy to navigate.. Especially with the map that Marina provides.||||Verona was 100% my favourite stop on our trip, Marina helped to make this experience what it was and for that I will be forever thankful. I would recommend her B&B to anyone and we will definitely be booking a room with her on our next...
Read moreWe visited in February and arrived at 10 PM to find the radiators cold. The next morning we informed the owner that it was very cold during the night and he said that it’s impossible because he has a thermostat set at 21 degrees Celsius, he checked the radiators and thermostat and said it was all good. He also told us to let him now via message if the room is still cold during the night and that he will come check if something is wrong. When we got to our room the second night, again, the radiators where freezing and so was the room, we sent him a message and got no reply. We managed to find the thermostat ourselves (it was hidden behind a small chalkboard in a hallway), set it to 22 degrees Celsius and finally had some heat in our room. || Unfortunately even with a normal room temperature we couldn’t get much sleep because the walls and doors are very thin and you can hear every little noise that comes from your neighbors. We got up at 6 AM because of the noise, not because we were rested.|| The location is great, near the center of the city, the rooms and bathroom are spacious and clean. || There is no parking provided by the owner and it’s very difficult to find a parking space near the apartment (“strisce blu”, not “strisce gialla”).|||| It’s a shame that the owner is trying to save some money by diminishing the comfort of his guests. I wouldn’t recommend this accommodation because it’s not worth it to spend a night in a cold room only to be woken up at 6 AM because of the thin walls and noisy...
