One of our most expensive night ($300) was spent here in Tsukino-Izumi. It was an adventure going up in the ziprail in Hakone Valley. Along the way there were probably less expensive resorts but this was the height of the hot spring experience. We had our private room and it was enormous. Expensive facials and moisturizers were provided with the room. And the toilet was as rumoured: fully automated and lit up as you slid the bathroom door open. Tea and snacks were given upon visit. The meal here were all Kaiseki, meaning you get set menus designed by the chef with seasonal and fresh ingredients. We were given resort yukatas while we roamed the surrounding areas before meals. There were beautiful vegetation surrounding the resort. Our private hot spring came with an outdoor view shaded by a private screen of trees.
