It’s my second stay at Hakone Hostel 1941, I was once again fortunate to experience the exceptional hospitality of Kana-san. Her dedication and attention to detail made my visit truly unforgettable.
From the moment I arrived, Kana-san warmly welcomed me and my bicycles. She went above and beyond by providing a secure space inside the hostel for us to park our bicycles, ensuring their safety throughout our stay. This level of thoughtfulness and care truly exemplifies Kana-san's commitment to ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for her guests.
Kana-san's invaluable recommendations and assistance were the highlight of my stay. Her profound knowledge of the area allowed me to discover hidden gems and make the most of my time in Hakone. Whether it was booking a private onsen or navigating local transportation, Kana-san's guidance was invaluable and greatly enhanced my overall experience.
The room itself was cozy and inviting, with a balcony that offered breathtaking views. I found myself drawn to the tranquility and serenity of the hostel, even though it was nestled in the heart of the bustling town.
Moreover, the common area on the first floor provided a delightful space for socializing with fellow guests. Kana-san's thoughtfulness extended to providing a selection of books, card games, and even chargers for gadgets, ensuring that every guest's needs were met.
In summary, Kana-san's exceptional care and warm hospitality made my stay at Hakone Hostel 1941 truly remarkable. Her attention to detail, coupled with the comfortable accommodations and inviting ambiance, create an experience that surpasses expectations. I wholeheartedly recommend this hostel, with Kana-san as the shining star, for anyone seeking an unforgettable and enchanting stay in Hakone. A resounding five-star review is...
Read moreAmong the places I've stayed, this place stands out the most due to the warm hospitality from Kanna-san, the hostel manager. Even if I compare to more expensive places I've stayed throughout my trip, it pales in comparison to her hospitality.
From eatery recommendation and reservation, how to navigate from here to Kawaguchiko on the earliest bus, to general chatting with her, her wealth of knowledge in this area is impeccable. She even offered me a ride to Gotemba as she had a bit of time before her morning shift, I declined the offer as I have Fuji-Hakone pass, I just have to wait a bit more instead of the former. I'm able to understand her English well although its not her strongest suit.
For the review of the room itself, it's an old place, the floor creaks, the room is right beside road so traffic noise is inevitable. There's free earplugs available but I'd recommend bringing one yourself, the free earplugs are too big for my ears. There's air conditioning available so I didn't feel too cold during winter. Once I plug in my earplugs, I slept like a pig without being interrupted.
Some additional note, there's free tea and coffee available, you can drop off your baggage early prior to check in. I recommend this hostel's location, it's reasonably close to the tourist spot u need to go to. The closest station is Miyanoshita Station, there's a 10 min walk with slope but no stairs.
My ending note would be, Kanna's personal touch to this hostel is what makes this place such a pleasurable place to stay. I would definitely come back here if I visit...
Read moreThe hostel itself is fantastic! I highly recommend:
Great location — There are buses and trains to go everywhere. Plenty of convenience stores, restaurants, and coffee shops nearby. Super clean — The hostel is well maintained. Amenities — there is a hot coffee, tea and hot water fountain for free. There is also a kitchen where you can cook your meals. Amazing hospitality — The host, Kana, is very welcoming and kind. She helped us by giving recommendations about things to do and even made reservations for a restaurant and onsen for us.
After 7 days of traveling, walking, and waking up early in the morning, we wanted a relaxing day to slow down and rest. Hakone and Hakone Hostel 1916 are the best places for that!
This was, without a doubt, one of the best stays in Japan. After a good dinner in Mori-meshi and relaxing in an onsen, we slept on the traditional Japanese style bed. It was a refreshing experience!
What can we say about Kana? She is truly one of the best hosts! She made us feel so welcome and provided plenty of recommendations on things to do. She even arranged reservations for dinner and a private onsen close to the hostel. Thank you, Kana, for making our...
