Disappointed. 2nd visit to Hakone Fuga. Not the same anymore. Where should I even begin.||Check-in Process was a disaster. No one noticed that we had arrived nor assisted to carry our luggages from our car. What a huge difference from our first visit to Hakone Fuga.||Hotel staff were more focused on domestic tourists than foreign tourist visiting. Despite arriving before 2 couples (domestic tourists), they were allowed to sit at the bar counter and were served more professionally than the front desk staff that served us who did not seem very clear in the check-in process.||Furthermore, they placed us at the 2nd level and the staff didn't go the extra mile to carry all our luggages up, and we had to carry some of it ourselves.||No suggestions from staff to assist us to carry it down upon check-out, we had to do it ourselves too.||No introduction to the room because I mentioned we visited before once, but the room type was different from our initial stay. He carried one of our luggages up, and walked us to our room, and left.||Very poor hospitality compared to our first visit ||The only saving grace was their dinner/breakfast staff at the restaurant as the service there felt genuine and sincere. Fusion food for the dinner course lacked the authentic Japanese experience we were looking for.||If you expect to charge your guest almost 99,000 yen per night, please be prepared to UP your service and standards as they have completely fell short from our first visit to Hakone Fuga.||We will definitely not return again because the entire experience felt like we were "ghosted" by the hotel staff. If I have to rate the first visit to the second visit, it was 9/10 to 1/10 (service staff efforts dinner/breakfast).||Also, if you are going to practice double standards (Japanese Customers vs Foreign Tourist), please do us a favor, don't advertise your ryokan/hotel to international tourists. ||You completely let us down, Hakone Fuga. We wasted our 99,000 yen on your hotel for 1 night.||Other ryokans charged us lower and the service was impeccable. You need to,...

I was looking for an authentic onsen ryokan experience when I booked this hotel. It is rather a small and dated hotel with small baths and mediocre western fusion dinner. Their service was great and I wouldn't complain about my stay if they had better pictures to show how small the bath tubs were.... The bathtubs were about 2.5 times the average home tubs (they looks pretty big in the pictures.) In the outside bath, I was face with a view of fences and the sound of cars driving 15m away didn't help either.|| ||We ordered the most expensive "kaiseki" dinner and expected a great load of amazing food you usually get at ryokans but what we faced was a western fusion with tiny potions of sashimi among everything else. Really, I would have had a second helping of rice if they gave us some pickles but no, there was no pickles.... When I order "kaiseki" dinner, I don't want to eat western food, I want to enjoy authentic Japanese meal and it'd be even better if they use fresh local ingredients.||To conclude, I would have booked another hotel if I knew what I was getting at the price they were charging. I'd recommend this hotel to the travelers who are not too keen to experience "ryokan" and travel within their...

First impression of the hotel was WOW. As we enter we have a wide range of free drinks to choose from. We get escorted to our rooms and it’s even nicer than expected. So clean and they thought of EVERYTHING. A pair of slippers or pantoufle for : the room (no shoes in the room) - the toilet - the balcony and the hotel surroundings. You can choose your all japanese outfit and you each have a robe. And you feel so comfortable going to lunch or dinner in your japanese outfit & flip flops. The toilets close and open as you enter the space. Lights are all manageable and dimmable from your bed where you have USB ports for your chargers. And the best part is the BALCONY which is directly in the forest. You have a full on jacuzzi in the balcony and next to it is your shower. And as of 4 pm - you have access to free drinks and nuts in the common room until 10.30 pm. Only concerns were that all signs (even the AC controller’s) were in Japanese only so we didn’t really know how to use any of them and only 2 staff speak very little english so communication was tough. Also - the food is not that great neither for dinner nor breakfast so would suggest going to eat outside of the hotel.

This is still my favourite hotel! A warm welcome with a drink, rooms were beautiful, we had a balcony with an onset which was so peaceful! Free chocolate and wine in the lounge. We wore our Japanese outfits down to dinner and didn’t feel silly as everyone was wearing them. Dinner and breakfast both great. Staff were polite, didn’t speak much English but were nice. It maybe slightly out of the way, but there is a bus from Lake Ashi that stops close by and is included with your hakone free pass.

Very unsatisfied with the service, mainly the reception desk staff who checked us out. The communication wasn’t very easy cause the staff can’t understand basic English. We were trying to split the payment of our group into two, but he was refused to listen to us and very impatient. The facilities in our room also had issues. The toilet seat was loose and the bathtub drainage was not working. The breakfast was good though and the waiters in the dining room was friendly.
