We stayed here for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The location is fantastic with wonderful views over Suruga Bay and a small beach in front of the hotel. I was checked in in English - a first experience for Japan. The room was large and comfortable with great Wi-Fi. The dinner was amazing - and we enjoyed the eat-as-much-as-you-like ice-cream for dessert. The staff were helpful and friendly throughout. While we had dinner, our futons were put out for us. The hot spring was great - one downside - I wish they offered all customers a free blocking for private time onsen during their stay - I asked about it but was told it would be an additional cost for 45-minutes. The location of the hotel was superb. On Christmas Day, we took a long walk along the coast road and enjoyed the breathtaking views of the bay. In the evening, I could also get some supplies from the 7-11 next door. There's a fridge in the room, so very convenient. Getting there and getting back was very straight forward as there is a bus-stop right outside the hotel - On the 26th, we took the 10.22 bus back to Mishima. Definitely worth a stay at this hotel. We hope to be back one day...
Read moreI absolutely loved my stay at this ryokan and will definitely be returning.
While the building shows a bit of ageâparticularly in the hallway and carpetâitâs still incredibly charming, with breathtaking ocean views from almost every room, especially the dining hall.
The onsen was wonderful, and I especially appreciated the free massage chairs. I stayed for two weekdays and it was pleasantly quiet, with very few other guests around.
The staff were all very kind and welcoming. Most of them are locals and donât speak much English, but they were always helpful and warm. I donât remember their names, but Iâm really grateful to them for making it such a lovely and relaxing vacation.
Since I donât eat raw fish, I asked if they could make a change to the meal, and they were happy to grill the fish for me instead. They kept apologizing, but I truly appreciated the thoughtful accommodation. I highly recommend having dinner at the ryokanâbe sure to reserve a seat by the ocean if you can!
Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I would...
Read moreWe stayed here one night while spending the weekend in the Izu Peninsula. We were greeted by a very warm welcoming staff. The property and rooms themselves are fairly dated but in good condition. Rooms were air conditioned which was nice given the warm humidity. The beachfront is nothing special although it was tough to appreciate given the rainy weather. We had dinner at the hotel which was standard fare with good attentive service. We did spend a short amount of time in the onsen which was fine. Myself and two kids were the only ones in there so we had it all to ourselves which was relaxing and a bit eery at the same time. I personally enjoyed our time in Shimoda more but there is a modest charm to this area which provides a different experience. All in all,...
