Dormy Inn Izumo — Hotel in Izumo

Dormy Inn Izumo locates next to the Izumoshi JR train station. The hotel is clean, has very good onsen on the top floor, a free beer at the bar after onsen use, free ramen after 9:30pm for an hour or so, and has on-site coin operated laundry. These are the perks included with the room price. Room rate is reasonable. Room is not big but this is expected in Japan. I had the standard double room (single use) - it Is actually fairly large in Japanese standard. ||There is coffee available all day in the lobby area. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful, though the few I encountered had difficulty with English. ||Bedroom and bathroom are clean with an exception of dust in some areas that people don’t normally look or touch (like the base of the night stand - don’t ask, I am a clean freak...). Bed is extremely comfy. Shower Is hot and has great water pressure. ||Hotel does have a breakfast buffet if you choose to have it. The buffet is quite extensive, including both traditional Japanese and western choices. I am very much a breakfast person and usually eat a big breakfast, so having this buffet is extra nice. ||The onsen area on the top floor requires a code to get in (for female side). The code changes daily so remember to get the new code from front desk before you go up. There are 3 pools - one outside which is hotter (very nice especially when the weather is cool), one cooler temperature and one normal temperature. The entire area is very clean. No shoes or slippers allowed inside - there is a shoebox for the slippers/shoes just before you step into the locker/changing area. Coin laundry is also in the same area. ||Note: if you have a large tattoo that you are unable to cover but want to use the onsen, please be respectful and go when there is no one there. I was able to do so in the afternoon when it was completely empty. ||I know that the hotel is fairly new when I visited in May, so hopefully they will keep it in good shape for as long as they can because Izumo is such a beautiful place. The hotel was just opened in second half of 2017. All exterior and interior was brand new. The beddings was of superior quality, may be because still not much people slept on that. The location was very good which is just next to the Izumo JR station. I drove there with my family, and lot of parking space was provided.||There was a onsen locates at the top floor. You can see the whole city from there. Coin laundry service is also available inside the bathing area, which is very convenient. Next to the onsen was a mini bar which provided free beer! Have a drink after the onsen bath was a great pleasure.||The breakfast was also very good which have wide variety of choices. Staff are all friendly and helpful.
