The hotel is located in 10 min walk from the railway station. |Don’t trust in maps. The best way to reach it - is to turn right and then walk along the embankment to the left. |The mile stone will be Seven Eleven supermarket. |You’ll find the down hotel entrance where you can use a funicular-elevator to the reception. Google doesn’t know this way.|The reception is very nice as well as the whole hotel’s interior. Stylish spacious. |Service is friendly and respectful. English is poor. |You may choose the most suitable time of cleaning for your room.|There’s a small shop at the reception where you can buy some goods including very good wine from Rotschild MAPU. The price is really democratic.|I rented the ocean view room. It was perfectly equipped with everything of good quality. The room is very spacious for Japan. There are no any complaints about.|The hotel provides a swimming pool, but be ready to pay additional 2000¥ for the entrance to the pool itself and 3000¥ for 2 sunbeds and umbrella. It’s strange to say at least considering the price per night. It’s about 300€. |Guests with tattoos will face a necessity to close them by using adhesive ribbons. Personnel will assist.|Silence is quite acceptable.|Generally the hotel looks a bit worn. It was really awesome 30 years ago.|Up to my mind it’s overpriced. But this is the best one in a nearest surrounding. |There’re some good restaurants around. |The beach and the Pacific Ocean are not perfect for swimming and sunbathing. |Beware of eagles while eating on the beach. I suspect that the staff at Kamakura Prince Hotel stole my sunglasses.

I visited Kamakura from Tokyo for a weekend and I stayed at the Kamakura Prince Hotel for 1 night from Oct 19 to Oct 20 2024 (Reservation Number: 31483B0785951, Room #311) and it was a great hotel. However, one hour after I checked out, I realized I forgot my sunglasses in the hotel room. The lady at the reception was very kind and went to look for it but didn't find anything. I asked if I could go search the room myself and, while she let me, the room had already been cleaned. I asked if my partner could join us to search the room but we couldn't find the sunglasses. I asked if the staff could check the laundry basket or the trash and she said she cannot find anything.

Near the end, I concluded that it was my fault for misplacing my sunglasses. On my way home to Tokyo, I remembered that I had taken a photo of the room just before checking out and saw that my sunglasses were in the photo of the room just before I checked out, providing evidence that the sunglasses were indeed inside the room before the cleaning ladies came to clean the room. I therefore believe that the sunglasses were taken by the staff member(s). In the picture below, the sunglasses are in a white case on the arm rest of the chair. I highly doubt that the staff believed this sunglasses case was trash and threw it out, leading me to believe that someone among the cleaning staff or the reception lady intentionally took them for themselves.

A very disappointing experience for me - I hope that the hotel can investigate this and let me know how they can make...

I’d like to post a positive review to counter some of the negative criticisms I’ve seen. We stayed here for two nights in June 2023. Yes, the hotel is showing a bit of age in public areas, and yes, it’s not located directly next door to any popular tourist sites. But the hotel is kept fabulously clean, the rooms are large and roomy even by Western standards and positively huge by Japanese standards, the room was luxuriously furnished and everything looked new and fresh, and the views out over the ocean to Enoshima and Fuji are absolutely breathtaking. As far as location, I consider it to be a feature and not a bug that it’s located outside the busy and cramped tourist center of Kamakura and in the far more open area near Shichirigahama station. And the fact is, if you’re visiting Kamakura, you’ll be riding the Enoden train/tram up and down the coast no matter where you stay, and the Prince is located just a handful of stops away from everywhere you’ll want to go. Why not stay in a much larger property with beautiful views? If you’d like a bit of local flavor, walk straight up the main street outside the hotel to the “Promenade”. You’ll find some restaurants, bakeries, a market, drugstore, banks and some other shops. We had an incredibly relaxing time at the Prince and will definitely be back. It’s a grand hotel from perhaps the 80’s era and full of premium stone floors, giant windows, huge open spaces and as I mentioned wonderfully large rooms with unparalleled views. All the staff were extremely helpful and courteous. I wish we stayed here longer!
