Tokyo | Kamakura Guide | Odakyu Line | Enoden 🚃 ▫️ After posting about Tokyo's transportation, many of you asked how many days are ideal for exploring a single location. Well... [sweat] it really depends on you! Whether you're into ticking off tourist spots or taking it slow to really get to know the city, it all comes down to your preferences [wink] ▫️ Kamakura, one of Japan's three ancient capitals, offers a variety of ways to explore. Personally, I think a day trip is more than enough to cover all the must-see spots. Let's start with how to get from Tokyo to Kamakura. The journey takes about an hour each way. 1️⃣ JR If you have a JR Pass, you can take the JR lines: "JR Keihin-Tohoku Line," "JR Tokaido Line," "JR Yokosuka Line," or "JR Shonan Shinjuku Line" all go to Kamakura. Key stations include "Ofuna," "Kita-Kamakura," "Kamakura," and "Fujisawa." After arriving, you can buy an Enoden pass separately. 2️⃣ Odakyu Electric Railway Enoshima / Kamakura Pass ([thumbs up] recommended) You can buy this ticket at the automatic ticket machines or the Odakyu Tourist Service Center in Shinjuku Station. There are Chinese and English-speaking staff, so feel free to ask all your questions! [sip tea] (Specific location: Odakyu Shinjuku Station West Exit 1st floor, business hours: 8:00~18:00, price: 1470 yen) For those in Tokyo planning a day trip to Kamakura, this pass is the best choice. It covers the round trip from Tokyo to Kamakura and allows unlimited rides on the Enoden. Each stop on the Enoden has its own attractions, so you can get off by the sea and take a leisurely stroll. The stations are close to each other, so you can hop back on the train when you're tired. [thumbs up] ▫️ 💙💙💙 Recommended Attractions 💙💙💙 ▫️ 🏔 Enoshima A peninsula near the Shonan Coast. The commercial street at the foot of the island has cafes, snack shops, and souvenir shops. The island itself has many temples where you can draw lots and pray. It's perfect for an afternoon stroll. ▫️ 🥞 Bills at Shichirigahama A popular Kamakura spot known as the "World's Best Pancakes." The food is delicious, but the service might not be great due to the crowds. Four stars for the environment, five stars for the food, and average overall experience. ▫️ 🚧 Kamakura High School Front Most people visiting Kamakura probably want to take that iconic photo here, right? ▫️ 🎏 Kamakura Komachi Street A lively food street near the east exit of Kamakura Station, with endless souvenir shops. I find this place more interesting than Bills. Other attractions like 🏯 Hasedera Temple, Myokian Temple, Gokurakuji Temple, Engakuji Temple, Kamakura Daibutsu, and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine—I suggest picking one or two to visit, otherwise, you might feel rushed! ▫️ If you're feeling super lazy and need a one-day itinerary... Here's what I'd recommend: Start your morning by taking the Odakyu Line from Shinjuku to Kamakura, then head to Kamakura High School Front Station for some photos. Around noon, take a walk and have lunch by the beach at Shichirigahama. Later, take the Enoden back to Enoshima Station, where you can climb the island. After all, the lighthouse on Enoshima is best viewed at sunset! 😝😝😝 ▫️ Oh, and if you need a digital map of Kamakura, just DM me... [eating melon]
