So we walked in for lunch on a Friday at 17.Feb.2023 at 1:00 pm. But was shocked when right away was greeted by the male wait staff right at the door with extreme rudeness. We were not even done catching our breath after taking a flight of stairs, and right away he even demanded we have to order certain dish with fingers pointing us like he is a school teacher and we are his students. He is like in his mid twenties by the way. This rude boy was speaking down to us as if we don’t have the money to pick up the bill, so disrespectful. This place is not even an upscale place where the prices are extremely high. His exact words were are you going to buy a meal each.. 😂. We were like isn’t that the reason people come there? Like he don’t believe people are actually here to come and eat. He was crazy! You don’t usually see this mannerism in restaurants in Japan.. so we were in disbelief. No way I am going to put up with this kind of treatment, especially when I will be spending money there, so we immediately left, we did let another staff there know how rude the guy was. I believe he has an aggressiveness towards the non Japanese people. Not sure if this was an isolated incident or the shop have a habit of being rude to its customer because they are in demand. We ended up going to a popular restaurant a few drive down (La Ohana), a way better option with better service, short wait time even they were packed and there is parking!!! This is A perfect example of when businesses starts to bloom, they starts to mistreat their customers. Sadly I will never be stepping foot in this place again. Nor will be recommending my American friends the place anymore too. Foreigners should stay away, obviously they don’t like foreigners. 😡 not to mention a ridiculous 40...
Read moreI've been coming to this restaurant (and the original location up the hill) once a year for 17 years and finally decided to write a review. I've had the good fortune to dine in many of the great cities of the world and the chicken katsu curry, seafood salad, and garlic potatoes is the best meal I've ever had. Consistently. I look forward to it and prioritize my visit every year. I typically try to get there 30-45 minutes before it opens for first seating and don't mind the wait (I've never been the first in line).
Drinks are average, service is good, atmosphere is great, and food is outstanding. Kid friendly. I've tried several types of curry and all have been excellent but the chicken katsu curry is, in my opinion, without equal. I sincerely refer this restaurant to acquaintances as the "best in the world" (again, in my opinion). So try it if you're near the area. Be prepared to wait if you're not there right at opening. I genuinely hope this review contributes to the restaurant's success so that I may continue to enjoy their food, year after year, for the...
Read moreForeigners beware!! I arrived 10 min after opening and despite only 4 parties ahead of me, was told it would be 1+ hour wait. Both my party and another tourist family were only put on a paper waiting list. However, we noticed the Japanese couple ahead of me received a buzzer. I then noticed more Japanese arriving after me, all receiving buzzers, and seated earlier than 1 hour. I had to go in and speak with an older gentleman (might’ve been the manager) who literally snatched the paper list from the hostess’ hands and promptly seated me at an open table. This was after 40 min of waiting.
Apparently, foreigners don’t deserve the standard practice of first come first serve here. We get put on a separate list and told to come back in an hour. If the restaurant manager sees this, please correct this practice and discipline your restaurant staff taking names. The curry is delicious but service must be fair and equal! Foreigners, be sure to follow up if you...
