Pacific DRIVE-IN — Restaurant in Kamakura

The place is on a beautiful location but the majority of the staff is very hit and miss…there are a few nice staff members but the majority of them are very rude, dismissive and inattentive…we showed up to try and order to take out but no one addressed us at the take out window and whenever we looked to the staff for help they would deliberately ignore us…when I went inside to try and order like I saw someone else she kept trying to say something about to order in and point to the machine but I was conveying take out, she looked so pissed and annoyed. And when she helped us with our order she looked over everything and past us and so over everything. I hope they find who ever hurt her. This isn’t the first time this has happened but I believe the last. The food is consistently inconsistent..if we order 3 plates one will be bad. Or if we go the place will have different hours than listed. Or they will switch breakfast/lunch. Some things are good like the garlic rice but it will be only offered at lunch and only available if not sold out. Everything else is kinda mediocre. The chicken was so abysmal and such a let down. So I am not sure if they are always this quality or if they just gave this to us because we were foreigners? It’s such a let down. The place looks so nice by the water and the customers look so happy but it’s so sad to show up and not pick fights and to be treated this way. I wish the company the best in its endeavors, but it will not recieve any more...

There’s a reason why you don’t see a ton of obese people in Japan despite the beer, rice, sake and meat. But it’s how active they are and especially the portion sizes. If you’re expecting the plate lunches to be Oahu sized then you’re in the wrong country. They give you just enough for what you need. And stopping by Pacific drive-in wa exactly what you need! Let me get off my soap box and talk all about this spot. They’re in a gigantic parking lot that validates an hour so that is so clutch! The vibe is extremely chill and offer outdoor seating for the sunny days. Their staff are all extremely helpful and friendly. As for the food, I shouldn’t have been surprised but it was so spot on! I was taken back to Ewa beach with the garlic shrimp trucks with the fantastic flavor. The chicken was juicy and crispy, the rice was moist and spiced just right but more so, I really appreciated the lima beans and potato salad to give the mixed plate...

We have been to this restaurant before and our experience was great. Today 04/21/2024 10am was very poor. We know it's a wait for sitting inside, but waiting 45min. With open seating available inside is ridiculous. Only one server inside was actively cleaning and sitting people down. And now it is a scan a QR code to put your order in, which you can not deselect certain items if you wish to get something not in the set meal or adjust for different kinds of milk for their coffee. The service before with someone taking your order was better then this QR code. Highly recommend the sitting service gets training for sitting people down faster and adjust the customer service with the QR.
