I stayed here for two weeks in June 2023 for budo training w/ a group of training friends. Overall I had a very good experience. ||There was some interior maintenance happening at the time, so there was no breakfast offered, but there are many options nearby, so that was not a problem. The elevators were also under maintenance, so until the last few days of the trip, there was only one available, and it was extremely blue. ||I stayed in a non-smoking room and it was perfectly fine, though they do have smoking floors, so if you get off on the wrong floor, it can be a bit much. I don't recall smelling smoke at any other time, so it was not an issue. Otherwise the rooms were completely adequate to my needs, as I largely spent my time out and about, and I found that I had more than enough space without having nearly so much as in a typical American hotel. It took me a bit of tinkering on the first night to sort out the room-key-in-slot-for-power setup, but after that it was easy to work with.||Amenities are spread out a bit across floors, but there are signs which direct you where you need to go. The washers and dryers in the hotel laundry were rather old and a bit small, but that was not surprising, and they worked well enough for doing mid-trip laundry.||The location was great, right next to Kashiwa Station, which was of course the starting point for much of the group's travel. Desk staff were also great, especially Mindy, who was extremely helpful when one of our group got injured and needed help acquiring crutches.||All told I will absolutely consider staying here again when I plan my...
Read moreThis hotel is very dirty. From the minute you walk into the lobby, you can tell how run down the hotel is. I wanted to give them a chance considering the price we paid, which by the way was not too cheap, but we booked last minute so I wasn't being too picky. Once we went up to our room, I immediately noticed the dirty carpet. My friend checked the bed to see if it was clean and we immediately see bedbugs. They were crawling all over the bed and the table. We left the room and informed the staff. At first, they were denying it then one staff member went upstairs with my friend to check and confirmed with his coworker that he saw bugs. We asked for refund and they told us we would have to wait to get it through Expedia. We said no problem, we'll call Expedia ourselves too. When they saw us contacting Expedia, they immediately refunded us in cash. Once we left the hotel and took our shoes off to clean, the bugs were stuck in our shoes so that means the rooms are filled with them.
I want to point out that the staff were very nice but very shady. It looked like to me that they didn't want Expedia or Hotels.com to know the situation and wanted to keep all of this under wraps. Do yourself a favour and check reviews for cleanliness for every hotel that you book because it is very crucial. I wanted to write this review to help someone else who might experience the same thing or might miss checking like we did and accidentally bring unwanted bugs...
Read moreWe stayed at the Kashiwa Plaza Annex for 10 nights and it suited our needs very well. My girlfriend and I stayed in a double room while our friends had single rooms. The size of the rooms are almost the same, our room was maybe 1-2 m2 bigger, otherwise they looked exactly the same; a bed, a small desk with tv and a bathroom with a tiny bath tub. For someone of my size (about 2 m tall) taking a bath is not easy, but it can be done.||||The beds and pillows are a bit hard compared to what we are used to from home. We had heard of the pillows and brought our own, not a bad idea if you don't fance hard ones.||||The hotel is located just outside Kashiwa station with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. It is also easy to get around Tokyo with the trains. It is a 30 minute ride with the rapid train to Ueno and from there you can go almost anywhere. If you are here for Bujinkan training both Hombu and Ayase is less than 30 minutes away!||||The room was cleaned everyday except for two day when we asked them not to clean. Those two days new towels and toiletries was left in a bag outside the room. We also received a bottle of watar each day since it was still considered summer.||||The staff speak some English, the knowledge varies, but we had no problem with check in/out, getting help with train schedules.||||I can absolutely recommend this hotel if you need a place to stay at...
