Spacious rooms, clean and prompt housekeeping, professional staff, well-designed hotel with European and historical decor.
Location is excellent. Right next to important shrine, numerous eateries, spa, walking distance to tourist sites and subway.
The spa/ bathhouse at Hotel Monterey Kobe was modern and clean. We had stayed at Hotel Monterey Sendai a few weeks ago, and were disappointed that the bathhouse was pay per use for guests. This charge is very unusual for a hotel with a sento/onsen.
We are very pleased that Hotel Monterey Kobe gives guests free access to the bath, which is normal for every hotel that has a bathhouse (like Dormy Inn, APA, JR Inn). This kind of hospitality is what Hotel Monterey should be known for.
The only small thing I would recommend is that the women's steam room have clear signage and equipment to clean/ wash the tiled seats. It is normal in other hotels/ spas/ steam rooms to have shower or water proof mats inside the steam room so guests can rinse/ wash down the tiled bench or mats after usage. Mats are rinsed off and dried outside.
Feedback on staff: Thank you to the friendly staff at reception - the young lady at our check-in spoke perfect English and was very professional. I believe her name began with a "T" and ended with an "I". Please thank her for us. The young man who helped me at check-out to send my luggage was also kind, professional and spoke English. His name was "Hwang". Thank you for your help! Credit to both these staff members as they made our stay wonderful from beginning to end.
Overall, I found Hotel Monterey Kobe to have modern amenities, professional, friendly and welcoming. professional, friendly...
Read moreI recently stayed at your hotel with my mother, and would like to provide feedback on the incredibly poor customer service we received from one of your staff members. We checked in on 13th June. We weren’t feeling very well on that particular day, as we had a long journey to arrive in Kobe, and were very excited to get to the hotel. When we arrived, we were greeted with the most miserable, rude staff member, who barely even said hello to us and was abrupt and unwelcoming. I would imagine working in this industry, that these qualities would be the opposite of the traits and demeanour one should possess. The hotel was lovely, and the interactions with other staff members was satisfactory, however unfortunately the tone was set by that initial encounter. A hotel should be a welcoming place for a weary traveller, and as it is often the first glimpse into a new city, it should provide a spark of excitement and anticipation. Instead, we were left feeling upset, unwelcome and our enthusiasm to explore Kobe fell flat. Please train your staff on the importance of customer service. Guests have worked hard to pay for holidays and accomodation, so to receive service like this, that really effects the trajectory or the holiday, is disappointing and...
Read moreThe hotel is within walking distance from Sannomiya Station, offering excellent access to transportation. It’s also close to the downtown area, yet far enough to provide a quiet and peaceful environment. Even at night, there was no noise, allowing for a restful stay.
The breakfast was impressive, with a wide variety of dishes available, both Japanese and Western. The taste was also very satisfying.
One thing I noticed was the sound of the ventilation fan in the room. However, when I contacted the front desk, they informed me that it could be turned off upon request. I didn’t know that was possible, so I really appreciated their helpful response.
Another great benefit is that if you become a member, you can extend your check-out time until 2 PM. I was able to enjoy a leisurely stay without feeling rushed. This is a great option for those who want to relax and take their time.
Overall, it was a very comfortable stay, and I would definitely like to...
