Kobe Sannomiya Union Hotel — Hotel in Kobe

Nice sized room with good service from the staff. The bathroom was really moldy, at first you can’t see it but by smell alone you can tell it’s there. If you look, there is a gap between the wall and bath-potentially for drainage- but there was a lot of mold under the bath. Sink was also moldy. Surface is clean, but ultimately needs a deep clean. The bed and pillows are comfortable, breakfast was also pretty good. Oddly we were placed on a smoking floor though not requested. The room itself didn’t smell like smoke, but the hallways did. I’m sure if we requested to be moved it would have been granted, but something to keep in mind if you are sensitive to smoke. Overall a good experience for the night, but it isn’t a place I feel inclined...

The customer service is good but the hotel room itself is absolute garbage. There are stains on the walls, and holes in the bed sheets. Everything was falling apart and we stayed at a DISCOUNT (¥9000) ... yet I've stayed in a hotel in Osaka for ¥3000 and one in Kyoto (the millennials I believe) for ¥3500 and both were more superior than this room. The beds were more comfortable and we got value for our money. You're better off booking a higher end hotel, because this hotel is way overpriced for the quality of the room. Great location not far from the metro and about a 20 minute walk to the China town and other areas. The rooms clean and the shower was nice. The bed and pillows weren't the most comfortable but it was ok. The only issue is the air conditioning which is controlled by the staff. Our room was 26.6 degrees Celsius and it didn't seem like the AC was being run. The fan in the room didn't help either. Luckily we were able to open a window in the evening which cooled the room. I think it would be more comfortable if staff kept the rooms cooler or allowed guest to control the temperature of their rooms. Overall our...
